Just an FYI... Don't trust...

…the jumper cables that come with those roadside safety kits.

They don’t work at all.

Just tried jumping the MR2 to get her ready to put back on the road (battery was dead, went too long without running her).

At the other end of the cable I was seeing a whopping 2 volts, despite never having ever used the cable before. Thankfully I found this out on my own at home, and not when my battery is dead in a parking lot somewhere.

Sweet shit right there!

that sucks. how old were the cables?

1st thing to do is scrap them and buy a set of heavy guage cables.

i was lucky if the cheapo ones would start my bike.

i left an interior light on in the BMW last week and had to be jumper here at work, theire 5 year old jumper box couldnt get teh car to even crank once… AA came with a good box and the car was able to jump right off the box…

ive used the cables that come in one of those kits may times with no problems.

lol, we need a generic “things not to trust” thread in OT.

computer hard drives

Ugh. Yeah. Mine died last weekend. Thanks, Apple.

Then again, operating it at 40-50* under the min operating temperature might not have helped…
