That’s fine. I got no hatred. Every car has it’s pros/cons. I was unaware of the K20 Civic. I am not even sure what they typically run ET/TRAP.
The stock turbos/stock fuel system is a huge problem with any 3/S. The car is dramatically different after even the smallest turbo upgrade.
For the record, a 1G 3/S TT SHOULD run 13.7-14.1 @ 99-101MPH and 2G 3/ TT SHOULD run 13.4-13.7 @ 100-103MPH. If X car is quicker/faster, than it is quicker/faster.
k20 swaps depending on which motor you have and what car its in (K20a, K20z1,k20a2) and (hatch, coupe, sedan) k20a is from the type-r integra, k20z1 is the 05-06 US RSXType-s motor and the k20a2 is the US RSXType-s 02-04 note: there are other versions of the k20 such as the k20a3(03-04 Si), k20z3(05-06 Si), or the k20Z4(07 civic type-r) not too many people do the z3’s or z4’s although people do swap the a3’s but they usually turbo them because they make such poor numbers(k20a3 only makes 150hp & about 140tq)
the fastest that a stock k20 into a civic has run is 12.36@111mph, on street tires, intake/header/exhaust (because in order to do the swap you need an aftermarket intake and header) that time was done in a full interior EG hatch on BFG radials.
the times vary from the weight of the civic and what tires and such are being run but they generally should run anywheres between mid 12s to low 13s @ about 105-111mph trap range
Which makes the debate impossible when comparing a stock car of about 15+ years old vs a car with mods including various motor swaps. It’s hard to compare any two entities with lack of controls.
this thread turned into the bashing of the 3000gt and a k swapped civic and which is better…and by you saying “vs a car with mods” the k swapped civic is a stock motor in another car(may not be considered stock, but the motor is) 97VR4 was saying his car would beat a k swapped civic, which i proved wrong…
i personally think this thing is now stupid because everything’s been proven. :confused
Oh. I didn’t read all that. I said “cs a car with mods” because your examples in the post I replied to had intake, exhaust, weight mods, and a motor swap which isn’t stock. Furthermore, as soon as a new motor goes in there, the car isn’t stock, IMHO. What’s faster? quicker? better? I don’t know nor care.
I will say it one last time
I was talking about a STOCK 3000GT vs a 92-95 Civic with a STOCK K-20 motor. As in a car, with a newer motor SWAPPED into it and that motor has no performance upgrades, hence saying that the motor is stock. I personally have been in a stock 3000gt as well as one with upgraded turbos. It is probably the second fastest car I have ever been in and the ride was awesome. I wasn’t bashing the 3000gt, I was saying what I thought were facts about its performance, they are one of the best looking cars, and now they are a great used car for the money. My statements comparing 1/4 mile times are based on the fact that K20 civics usually run low 13’s and high 12’s in the quarter and it seems like the stock VR4 runs mid to high 13s. I’ve owned 3 Honda’s and the motors are not run by rats. They are powered by internal combustion. I’m a fan of all cars, even cars that “Honda guys” are supposed to hate.
There were no weight mods, and the I/H/E is needed in a k swap because the stock manifold doesnt fit around the steering rack and the stock intake won’t fit with the radiator where it is. but yes i understand a motor swap is not stock, but a K swap is also not a fully built B series, it’s a stock motor with I/H/E(wow a whole 10-15hp gain, if that) and is running these ET’s. that’s pretty damn impressive if you ask me, i don’t know about the other people in this thread that are bashing the k20 by saying i think it’s “god’s engine”, never said that, im just saying…k20 inside an older civic = a pretty nasty car, despite it being a Honda Civic ;D
You mentioned weight mods? It’s not about being impressive (which is subjective. ) but rather your comparisons were using a modded car. When comparing any car with any sort of mods vs a stock car, it’s hard to compare as the mods vary.
I’m going to let this slide a little bit more, then I’ll lock it. It’s not because of the arguing, there is just simply little to no point left in this thread at this point in time.
