KA camshafts.

these are the only aftermarket ones that i know of for the DE, anyone else know of any others?

http://www.pdm-racing.com/products/cam_corner.html

also, at the bottom of the page it says that before ordering you hav eto check the thickness of each shim under each lobe… what kind of a job is this???

JWT makes a cam, but it’s listed as only for the SOHC.

Yet, I’ve heard of people (such as Jeff240sx from Zilvia.net) that are running JWT cams on their DOHC. Maybe you can give them a shout and find out.

…weak pieces of shit :frowning:

^^

JWT???

or PDM??

Well the PDM ones use your existing core, so I don’t see how they would be much weaker.

Not sure about JWT, I would think they would use your core, but I could be wrong.

stock.
if i showed you mine, you’d understand.

i am still slightly confused here…

are you saying stock is stronger than the regrinds? and stronger meaning what?

Mikes stock cam shaft snaped when taking it out of his engine

Comp Cam’s is where IIRC Adam got his re-grinded.
There supose to be really good.

hutchison?

hmm, are these guys canadian?

Dunno if I can be of much help, but the PDM Stage II will give you roughly
11HP and 7lb-ft of torque, at a cost of $904USD (+shipping and anything else).
That’s a lotta money for not a whole lotta gain.

Not that I’m saying it’s not worth it, but, what exactly is your plan with
the motor? N/A? KA-T? Nitrous?

If you do KA-T, shouldn’t your cam be custom ground to be most effective
with your turbo setup?

i dont feel like going turbo, so i figure i would just do a little more than basic bolt ons.

i drive WAY to fast as it is, if i went turbo i would prolly die (seriously) in a few months.

i bought my SOHC race cam from colt cams (formerly shadboltcams)

no issues with it…used it for 2 years racing…

its still for sale… $380

503 lift…300duration…

Colt Cams my bad ya there located in BC.

Adam,

where did you get your cam from? did you get it fom BC or was it a local supplier?

i knew you had a SOHC cam, where can i get DOHC cams,

or in other words, is it possible to obtain these cams from the same supplier you used and are they comparable to the PDM cams???

it looks as though they are the same thing i guess

I think it is colt cams that re-grinds PDM cams

check out there site.

http://www.coltcams.com/

they are the exact same cams…

Pdm says that it is necessary to measure the shims and provide them with these measurements.

how dificult is this to do? is it as easy as it sounds? and how accurate does it have to be? ie. do you need a nice micrometer?

if you are asking…i would take it to a mechanic and get them to do it…

yeah i figured as much,

okay another question for you…

i guess since the shim measurements are always different, that i would actually have to take my car off the road and have the existing cam reground because the shims are spec for my particular cams right?

so there would be no point in buyign a used set of cams and sending those?

what would i be looking at for labour on a job like this???

is it pretty cut and dry or what?
