every once and a while when i start my car the rpms will go up and then drop all the way to 400 rpm before leveling out. also when i push my clutch in to slow down it sometimes drops and then goes back up. is this a normal occurance in the KA24DE? it seems like theres not enough air or too much fuel. anyone have this problem? :?
I have the same problem on my car, I cleaned out the intake mani and it was fine for about 3 months, but then came back again. So I’m thinking it’s either the aiv or the egr that needs cleaning, I’ll be removing my egr soon enough, and I’m gonna clean my aiv in the meantime. You also might wanna check your vacuum connections, they can cause this as well. Is it idling rough at all, maybe a little hiccup every minute or so? Mine does, it hicups without gaining or losing rpm at all, I don’t know what it could be. Not to jack your thread or anything but if someone has heard of this, please share.
no mine doesnt hicup really, just at startup one out of ten times the RPMS will drop to 200-400 RPMS for a brief second. it happens more often while pushing the clutch in on deceleration. it almost feels like the car cant get enough air. :roll:
I can’t help you on the startup part but I know my RPMs drop 900 when I clutch in and coast/brake. I think that’s just what it does. Probably to make sure you get low enough revs in case you shift REALLY early for some reason.

honestly get rid of egr that shiet causes things to plug up ,on ebay there is egr blockoff plate 15$ or just plug the hole with 1 loone !!! and put egr valve back on .also bpt ,aiv and buterflies can be thrown away/disconected… takes bout 3 hours if u go by the book to remove all the crap and clean up… all extra vacoom ports can be pluged off but than ka sounds alot better and breathes easier as well idles smoother …frees up lots of space under the hood as well
have u guys tried taking ur thottle body off and cleaning the plate i did that to min eand it stop the idle problem also try checking the distributer for corrosion i did these things and my car runs like new i never would have thought it would have been that either also it only takes 2 mins to do so its worth it

u can clean it all u want it well get plugged up again if egr recycles dirty exhaust gasses back into manifold, aiv into air box etc… as well ka naturally runs abit rich anything u do get rid of emissions first its alberta not cali
also u may want to clean out/replace aidle control valave /distibutor cap /sparks air/fuel filter … and run some injector cleaner
