If your PS3 has problems reading disks, or doesn’t load them at all, you need to replace the laser on it. It’s a well known problem, especially on the second generation 40GB models.
I have a brand new (never been used) KEM-410ACA laser replacement for the PS3. This is the dual laser lens and it fits on the following models:
PS3 Model: CECHP01
HD Size: 160GB
USB Ports: 2
Release Date: November 2008
PS3 Model: CECHL01
HD Size: 80GB
USB Ports: 2
Release Date: November 2008
PS3 Model: CECHK01
HD Size: 80GB
USB Ports: 2
Release Date: September 2008
PS3 Model: CECHH01
HD Size: 40GB
USB Ports: 2
Release Date: March 2008
However, this should only be used as a guide. Your PS3 could also come with the single laser lens (KEM-400AAA) which is usually the case with the older PS3’s.
Also, this comes with the full mechanism as well, not just the laser itself.
For a small fee, I can also replace the laser on your PS3 as well. I’ve done that on my PS3 w/o problems.
I only have this one unit, so first come first serve
I’m asking $65 or best offer.
