KS for SpecV's

Silverboost or Pyrexx, have either of you relocated the ks in your Spec V’s? just want to know if you had or if it would not be wise with 91 octane gas, I find it amazing how we are in the oild capital of Alberta, with the largest oil sands in the world, and we had the most piss poor gas around, I mean we have refineries pumpin out tons of poullution every day near Sherwood Park and we aren’t able to even have 93 octane gas.

I had heard that the '04’s still should/could have their knock sensor relocated

I think they switched it over on the later models of the '04 cars, just like they changed the shift linkage. In any event, I’ve never had my car give me a lick of trouble with the knock sensor.

I wouldn’t ground it either, if your engine starts knocking and the sensor isn’t working or can’t hear it, you can do some expensive damage in a real big hurry. Nissan Performance Magazine tested an '02 car with the knock sensor grounded and gained about 2 WHP. Not worth it, IMO.

But it just makes the car run more consistent, and I have the earlier '04 model before they changed the linkage, I know that cause when I ordered my Mossy short shifter they asked me when I bought it, as there was/is a different piece needed depending on when the car was manufactured.

Ahh, I see. I thought all the '04s had the better knock sensor, but they might not have.

In any event, if you want to dummy your knock sesnor, there’s a writeup on how to do it here:

If you do this mod, make sure for the love of god that you never use less than 91 octane gas.

Maybe the day I go blind deaf and stupid, and cant drive I would put in non premium gas in a high performance engine that needs it.

Oh. So you’ll be filling up with regular tomorrow then, eh?

I just don’t see the point in doing this unless you can physically feel the car pulling timing on you. It just isn’t worth the 2 extra HP you might get.

From what I’ve read, the 04 KS is desensitized over the earlier 02-03s. Even so, I’ve never touched mine and I’ve never really felt an problems. IMO, it’s not worth it. ESPECIALLY if you can’t consistently get good fuel.

No doubt. I’ve never found a professional source online that recommended the KS mod, even for the 02-03 cars. I suppose if you don’t mind playing russian roulette with your motor if you don’t strictly know the quality of gas you’re getting, it might be worth the extra jam.

Not to me though, running cars make more power than blown up ones.

fine guys I won’t do this mod, just to keep my fans happy! :partyman:

No, no, by all means do it! When you put a piston through the side of the block, would you sell me some of your mods? :E
