laptop advice needed

1TB PCI-E SSD for the win. Wife is ordering a new machine for her freelance graphic design work and I’m trying to talk her into it.

LOL a million dollars later

They’ve really come down in recent times. They are only about $250k. LOL

I have a late 08 unibody. Threw in 8gb of ram and a SSD and it feels like a while new machine.

I hate when the motherboard is called the logic board, just get what Lz got you will be fine, also throw it up on eBay it will bring some cash

Where I looked on their site?

I fucking hate it too. It’s one of those situations where I just roll my eyes and mumble “go fuck yourself, apple.”

… but I keep buying their stuff.

It’s a single line item…it’s pretty much go SSD or go home.
Edit—I didn’t even see that the default is a 500gb turtle of a drive. I’m so conditioned to look for SSD at this point, 5.4k doesn’t even register.

Mainboard, logicboard, motherboard. All the same shit, all fitting descriptions. No matter what you call em, when they go you’re kinda fucked. Only worse failure IMO is hard drive with no backup. haha

so im going to the genius bar tomorrow morning to find out what the deal is with my 15" but im going to pull the trigger on this 13" MBP tonight i think.

best/worse case scenario they can fix my 15" mbp for a reasonable fee then i can just return this 13" within 14 days if i wanted to.

otherwise if they say its FUBAR then my question is how do i wipe my HD before i ebay it? thats the last thing i want is someone having all my info and whatnot

If the logic board is shot you will have to remove the hard drive.

Lmfao

hope this isn’t more than $1600

its an apple certified refurb

lol @ the genius bar right now and seems to just be a software issue. they are reinstalling the os and i “should be good to go”

since the MBP i ordered last night doesn’t come in until next week it will give me a good chance to see if that was really all it was.

if it seems to be working fine ill just return the one i bought and hopefully can hold out till fall when they update the line

Still can’t get over how expensive their shit is, even refurbed.

Wife just spent 3 grand on a refurb… Ooof. Machine is a beast though.

Lol spoke too soon. Graphics card won’t load so it’s a motherboard issue now since the graphics are tied into it. $500 to fix. But the good news is that he explained how to hook up this one to my new one if I need anything off the HD.
