can anyone honestly tell me that there is a difference between a LCD tv that has a 60hz panel or 120hz panel. From the people I talked to they said that you would never be able to tell a difference.
thoughts?
opinions?
facts?

I think you you are playing games you can notice tearing on a slower monitor but other than that
I can see the difference on computer monitors between 60 and 75hz. I’m not sure if a TV is the same.
Good article.
I’ve watched a few 120hz TV’s and I just cant get use to it,makes the movie experience completely different,one of the films I watched was Gone in 60 Seconds and everything seemed like it was on a very slow fast forward.Best thing to do is go to BB or CC and take a look at them.
*Edit,you’ll definitely see a difference.
I love my Samsung LN52A650
And you can tell especially during sports.
The difference comes with faster motion. So sports, action movies, etc. If it’s twice as fast, then the motions on the screen will be more fluid, natural and won’t “step.”
Plasma TVs, however, are rated at like 480Hz+ I think.
yeah… LCDs suffer from motion blur so 120hz was added to try any make up for this big weakness compared to CRT/plasma. The difference should be obvious with any fast motion, if you’re going to play games it’s a MUST.
120 hz is certainly better for gaming, but i think it looks like shit. 60hz also looks like shit. LCD’s in general look horrible. unless you have 10 windows facing the television, you shouldn’t buy an LCD.
i perfer lcd. i love mine. i may be selling it soon just go with a bigger one
Listen to this man.
i’m looking at getting a new computer monitor that I will have my directtv hooked up to and I was looking at this one. The review seem very good on it.
24"
26"
can someone explain a few things to me?
Horizontal Refresh Rate 30~81kHz
Vertical Refresh Rate 56~75Hz (V)
Contrast Ratio DC 20000:1(1000:1)
Response Time 5ms
from what I understand this should be a good setup for what I do (gaming and TV)
Yes
I have seen a Samsung 42" plasma side by side with a 60 and 120 watching The Departed in HD and you can see the difference. IMO the 120 has a more 3d ish look to it from what i saw. It was pretty sweet and my next one is going to be a 120hz.
simple answer
60hz = screen refreshes 60 times per second (60fps)
120hz = screen refreshes 120 times per second (120fps)
most movies and TV shows are recorded well below that in terms of frames per sec. just fyi (24fps I think)
Higher frequencies will probably be most noticeable in video games or anything else rendered in real time as long as the frame rate isn’t capped (usually at 30 or 60 fps). I’ve honestly never been able to notice a difference above 60 except in very very fast moving scenes.
If you’re looking around, it’s probably not a bad buy though. Or hold out… polarized TV’s are the next big thing (3d tv)
I picked up the Sony Bravia 46" 120hz yesterday. The salesman was trying to sell me $135 cables for it :bloated: is there any cheaper cables for it?

Does your TV have a digital audio out and does your surround have a digital audio input?
or fiber optic in and output?
