there is a lot more that goes into swapping a 1j into a SC4. I’d basically need a front clip and I’d never pass inspection. One of the most ricerish things I think is when your car can’t pass a simple NYS inspection (I used to be guilty of it with the hatch though).
Simple way for me to get power is Richwood technologies manifold and Eaton M112 blower or Lextreme fish bracket and vortech blower. With premium gas being $4.09 a gallon right now I think I’ll pass on getting 8mpg however.
then sell sell sell, make made moniesss off some ricer wannab. Buy a manual sc. Then install the Kaaz 2-way. Then let’s go street together. All the power in the world won’t help if your trans shifts when it wants, not when you want. Com’on, please… buy a sc300.
i believe they make shift kits for them to make the gear changes more crisp. and you can always do a hold gear setup. with enough power anything goes slidewayzzzz. :nod
The 98+ LS400 runs a gated shifter with a 1,2,3,4-O on it. This would allow me to keep the car in any gear I wished and is actually a super easy upgrade the only problem is finding the gated shifter assomething like 97% of all LS400’s sold are still on the road today. To buy the mechanism new from a dealer is over $500. Being auto really doesn’t bother me too much . A LSD is more important than tranny stuff at the moment cause second gear is huge first is tiny so if i was to seriously play around in a parking lot or event iI’d generally stay in second anyway.
I’m not selling this car. Diamond White Pearl with Black interior and full options was actually pretty rare. Plus most of the manuals are seen as base models so a lot of the sweet options are lost and most are pretty beat.
so for 500$ you can have an auto with holdable gears. why not its cheaper than a 2.5liter 1jz with a 5 speed. and plus youll be v8 power. there is quite a bit of aftermarket support for the 1uz i was surprised. ITB’s!!!
Baller Supra guys are actually doing built 1UZ-fe swaps and running TT’s off them to break 1200hp. I can’t imagine the torque those motors have.
If I can find as used gated shifter from and LS400 GS400 or SC400 I can do the entire thing for under $300. Its quite simple just rewiring some things and shortening the shift linkage about an inch. I can also adjust the pressure on the trans. fluid line somewhere for stronger/quicker shifts if i want. I remember seeing a write up on that. For $500 I can have a badassed torque converter bult to my specifications by Lextreme as well.
Well I have been forced into making a decision that I was on the fence about. My GT wing is going away. I am not very happy about it at all really as I will just now conform to a mold I did not really like. Why you ask?
In the two weeks the car has been finished and on the road
a front fender has been dimpled like someone has punched it
I come out of my house in the am to find a full cup of coffee thrown all over the car after not parking in the parking garage over night
I find bolts missing from the gt wing at least once a week almost anywhere I go
I found two huge scratches all the way through the paint on the nose of the car last night at dinner.
I am extremely distraught. SO I figure I’ll try to calm down the looks of the car and pick up andother trunk lid and a bomex wing get them painted up and on before more childishness happens to my car.
I am considering also buying stainless nuts/ bolts and just tac welding the ends. I do love the GT wing. I also like the bomex wing but I really don’t feel like spending $600 once all is said and done and painted to buy it or even more for the other Signature wing I am absolutely in love with.
dude. fuck taking the wing off. that would mean the assholes have won. make it theft proof. tac the bolts. and how bad is the key mark? i could touch it up and buff it out for you man. you wont notice it. ill help you out as long as you keep the wing.
Thanks for the offer man but its all the way through the paint and into the fiber glass. I went to lexus and got some DWP touchup paint and fixed it. Its almost impossible to see. I bought JB weld and filled the female ends of the hardware I have left for the wing. The only way its ever coming off is if you open the trunk and remove it.
