I completely disagree that GM quality is behind the imports. Data such as J.D. Power, etc. bears me out. It’s a perception no longer based in fact. The long term problem they have is NOT quality, it is their labor costs, over $70/h salary and benefits for blue collar employees. You can’t make a profit in the world market with those kinds of costs. Short term, all the manufacturers sales are down and GM just doesn’t have enough cash in reserve.

Unfortunately, perception does not have to equal fact. Sour a consumer once or twice and it’ll take an eternity to convince them a product line has improved.

I don’t see chrysler/dodge/jeep making it out of this. I bet toyota/honda purchases their plants and does away with their autos. Maybe use dodge trucks design.
