FYI for future reference, when you get a telephone quote from GEICO Auto they will generally NOT run your MVR (drivers record) and Credit (underwriting factor) until after you agree to buy. Why? Because this costs them money. Them saving money is one big factor in how they offer lower rates. If your credit is shot, or you have an Adam Beck like driving record, this’ll change the quote. Otherwise it’ll generally be the same or lower.
Also, when another insurer (i.e. your current carrier) tries to quote / match / or generrally beat a GEICO quote you should make sure that the other insurer is not trying to cut your coverages to state minimums. GEICO Generally recommends / quotes with 100/300 Liability, 50k property damage, etc… as opposed to 25/50 and 10k (NYS minimums), because you should be properly covered. Sersiously, what is 10k going to cover if you careen into someones house?
Lastly, there is are a large number of reasons as to why GEICO is the 3rd largest auto insurer in the nation… similarly there are a number of reasons why Buffett repeatedly praises GEICO as one of his best investments to date.

Alot of companies offer LARGE rate discounts for bundling home & auto / umbrella / powersports / etc. GEICO generally offers ~3% i believe (plus all the military, organizations, yadda yadda)…
I personally know allstate offers upto a 25% discount on homeowners for having auto with them… Think about that for a second: They can afford to cut 25% of your home premium IF you have another policy with them. Why can’t they simply charge you saaay 15-20% less off the bat? This is why GEICOs discount is lower.
I personally have the maximum discounts applied to my GEICO auto policy (been with em for ~9 years), when I brought my homeowners there I got another 2.5ish % off the auto.
