lol @ this rumor "new macbooks being machined out of billet aluminum"

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=13133

:fail:

Why on earth would anyone give this rumor any sort of merit? With the current cost of macbooks, I can’t see them hogging a case out of a solid piece of aluminum, further increasing production costs.

Yea, I’m going to raise the BS flag on this one…

As true as Steve Jobs having a heard attack last week.

:bsflag:

How many do you think they will make?
5000, 10000, 20000?

I call BS, it will be made from billet magnesium.

I hear theyre supposed to be made out of dark matter making them invisible when activated…

the macbook hole?

iSuck?

Why are you spreading it?

sorry

:suicide:

More likely than not, someone taking a snipit grossly out of context. It is not unlikely that a portion of the frame would be Al. Heck, Audi used large single piece aluminum frames to hold up the kick panels in my B5

ooo human ground wire would be a fun implementation.

^^^ lmao

Anyone?
Believe it or not it may make a difference.

i don’t think it’s that unrealistic, it would provide durability and allow for a single “slide out” repairability

if they’re making millions I still can’t see that adding up. At least compared to stamping them with a die.

Casting them has got to be out of the question as well (walls are way too thin, not to mention all the cleanup necessary)

the only way I can honestly see them doing this, is if they’re saving a lot of money in assembly by having them a one piece design.

^I don’t know, are they going to sell millions?
How many people buy that exact laptop?

I gotcha… maybe some sort of limited production run? (make the rest out of plastic?)

That doesn’t seem like apple though (giving you choices :P)

I would think a family of dies to cut and stamp them would be $60,000.(Not really my expertise but probably not too far off)
You could machine quite few from billet/plate for that kind of coin, especially in China where they are most likely assembled.

my girl works for apple she says that it not going to be billet aluminum , but it will have that kinda look … … I like the white , thats just me
