It should be in any day now! I can’t wait to play with it. Anyone else have one of thse and want to give me some tips?
Hacks rule for this phone, you can also turn it into a USB modem.
I am very dumb when It comes to these things…one question I have…
I can buy a plan from verizon that gives me 10mgb of internet usage…what does this mean?
I would use the internet on the road…to look at sites like:nyspeed, myspace, ebay…ect
with this package how many sites can I look at…how Is it comparable?
PM evolve. He can answer all your questions.
I have this phone also, I ditched it to the back burner for the time being - using it as a data only phone.
As a PDA for mobile email and calendar etc, it is fantastic, kinda sucks as a phone though. Battery life is low when using EVDO, and the phone is way too quiet, I couldn’t hear it over the exhaust on my car when driving ever (and it is not that loud)… I picked up the VX8600 (chocolate flip phone) and I haven’t really touched my XV6700 since.
As rubicant said, hack the shit out of it though, it can do some cool shit
whats some of the best/fav hacks
I have it and it def. doesnt make a good primary phone but it is fantastic for a PDA
yep, i have the sprint version, only reason i learned to tolerate it as a phone is because i dont make many calls and i typically use a headset… ive been through 3 of them all having stupid issues, the one i have now is working ok now
yea, headset does solve the problem for the most part, but even my bluetooth headset seemed quiet… dunno i delt with it for a while and eventually i couldn’t take it anymore and gave up.
Also as a note, apparently the later versions of firmware make the phone even QUIETER, so try not to update firmware unless you have to. I did not do this myself as I did not ever update mine, but a guy that works for me that also had the phone updated his and it got noticebly quieter after the update. He also ditched the phone for the same reason…
I am much heavier use of text and emails thats why i still have it as a second phone, however to use as a phone it just doesnt cut it - its great for being in meetings though
yeah the reason i bought mine is since i txt a ton, and it makes it so much easier
and being bored at school picking up wifi is a plus
hope you use a lot of apps otherwise you’ll be kicking yourself for not getting a black berry 8703
all though switching back to T9… im pretty sure i can text faster with T9 than the qwerty keyboard
i also have this with sprint.
it’s ok. i am on my second. Was having problems with it the past few days where people could not hear me when i call them… but i could hear them fine. They could also hear me when i hit a #. I did a hard reset, and it seems ok so far. But we will see.
As a phone… its ok… bugs here and there. As a PDA, its good.
me too… but when you get a new word then it takes more time…
but common texts 2-4 seconds max… T9 is sooooo fast
after getting t9 to remember how you type and some of your shortcuts on words, it definately can bump out typing pretty quick
i have the phone and i love it… mines the sprint version…
10gb means you can only go to 10 gigs worth of sites… every time you load a sight, the phone recieves/transfers bites… you get 10 gigs worth with that plan… if your going to use the phone as a usb modem… 10 gigs will be done super fast… especially when your connecting at 300 kbs/sec
