I have a friend who bought an RSX non type S. Where should I look to find an HID kit that is good quality and preferably/reasonably plug and play? Anywhere to find OEM ones used for a decent price if they made them for the RSX’s which I presume they did?
Thanks
The RSX never came with HID’s in the US. You can however find reasonably priced retrofits from a TSX, RDX, and from other car makers like BMW and Audi. YOu can also find good plug and play kits like Onex, GoldenEye, etc for about 200 bucks for everything. Any ballasts/bulbs from Osram/Phillips will be great.
Correct, that would be the retro fit. I had a set of the O-Nex kit, its a pretty sweet kit. I have the 4300K kit in my integra and it looks amazing!
There are also HID kits that convert into a bulb that will fit conventional headlight sockets (9005 etc etc etc)
redPOShyundai (greenEGcoupe) had them in his 300zx so he could light the garage up at night.
nope…OEM RSX headlights are not projector headlights. so unless you want to do some crazy custom fitting, you’re going to need a plug and play kit.
mod-express HID’s I get these at a killer price shoot me a PM.
Isn’t the whole point of HID’s to use a projector to properly disperse the light? How do the kits work that utilize the stock housing and just modify the bulbs to fit the stock housing?
Val: Technically you are right. Integra’s/RSX have projector lenses already in the housing that do reasonably well with an HID bulb behind them. This allows you to buy a ballast bulb combo that plugs directly into your OEM harness, which is what we are referring to. The light cutoff should be just fine that way.
If you are retrofitting into a vehicle without OEM projectors, then yes you’ll have to figure out a way to fit another lense in there, otherwise you are negating the benefit of an HID setup (clear intense light, wide beam dispersal perfect cutoff).
By the way get off the PC and GTF back to work.
RSX’s do not have projector headlights.

thats where I got the HID’s from for the civic, cant beat the price and warranty.
I never had a problem since i installed them. people on 8thcivic.com said they had them on for 3 years with no problems yet
05+ do from what I am reading
Slapping cheap-ass HID kits into stock halogen housings is really stupid. If you’re not going to do a proper retrofit with oem projectors then put the tools down and step away from the car. If you want better lights just upgrade your harness with relays and good wire and use higher wattage bulbs.
