honestly, I don’t think there is shit you can do. Get more moderators… what will that do? More threads will be split and locked. People will get pissed and stop coming here. Warn more… that doesn’t scare anyone, seriously. Ban the trouble makers… that may work, but no forum likes to perma-ban anyone. (although I think there should be zero tolerance for personal and physical threats)
The more traffic, the more assholes. It’s simple really. If you figure that 10% of people are complete dicks and you increase the amount of members, than you have an increased amount of dicks to the site. No amount of moderation will change them or how they act. Its what happens on all forums. Don’t think you can avoid it.
BTW, each member should consider themselves lucky. Vlad is very open to ideas/suggestions/discussion. This isn’t RSPEED where personal feelings are the law. Each member has the ability to change this place for the better.
While, yes, arguments/personal threats/blah occur, at the end of the day, most threads are fairly constructive even if it’s filled with funny pointless posts. What do you expect? This is a forum filled with mostly young males with toys as a main focus.

More moderators != more moderation.
More moderators to accomodate the growing traffic.

if vlad gets more mods cause of the increased fighting than yes, there will be more moderation.
It’s up to Vlad but my suggestion for another moderator wasn’t due to any fighting but due to the increased traffic. You cannot expect the same # of moderators to keep up with the ever growing # of posts.
I agree with Shawn that more traffic warrants more Mods in a way that, I’m not against fighting, but I hate it when it ruins a thread, so for them to keep getting split into Battlefield (which is somewhat time consuming) and with the latest amount of Traffic, I simply cannot keep up with all the splits.
And having stupid bickering in somebody’s thread, will piss off the Original Poster, therefore lack of moderation such as splitting, will cause the people to get discouraged. As long as positive conversation can stay positive, and bickering stays in battlefield OT, I think we can work something out.
it may work out in your opinion, and since this is your site thats pretty much all that matters. But no matter what you do, it will not fly with everyone. You gotta make a decision that you think will have the least negative feedback.

if people are mature enough than the site could easily be run by one or maybe two mods, but I know that is WAY too much to ask for ;D. It’s not the increase in posts that creates a need for more mods, but the increase in shitty off-topic and fighting posts.
True but how can you expect two moderators to continue to read nearly ever post on a very busy site to check?
So when we split how about we just make sure we post a redirection topic, with a link to the split thread
easy. I read every new post (anything posted after 4pm the previous day) in the morning in under half an hour (and there is a good amount of them). Its pretty easy to pick out the threads/posts that are causing problems. I’m a skimmer… I can follow without reading every word.
I know there are more than 2 mods on here now, but there are only 2 that do any real moderation (from what I can tell… benny and vlad). They seem to be doing a descent job so far.
more mods can cause more mod drama… remember a month or so ago. Ban, unban… some quiting and deleting acounts. HAHA
