Looking for some ideas vs. I want a car for 5k or under. (what would you buy?)

Please read the parameters!!!

So i am really thinking about getting a new DD to sort out my vehile situation

I wanna use the vr4 just for fun, i wanna stop having to worry about if i mod it, will it be reliable or whatever. Plus modded cars for DD arent that ideal.

And my truck is just too big for daily driving 40 miles. I want it to stay a dedicated plow truck, less miles, more reliability.

So anyways i was wondering…

If you had 4-5 grand to buy a car for a daily driver what would it be. I know combined we have all owned alot of cars.

PARAMETERS:
I want ideas outside the box. Please do not suggest any types of hondas, nissans or mtsubishis.
I dont care if it’s auto or 5 speed, big or small, fast or slow.
I can live with 15 mpg and up i dont want a “gas saver” I want a car.
I want something comfy, warm, and kinda quiet? (is this possible for 5k?)
It doesnt need to be reliable, if its 5k its probably reliable enough. im not a dreamer for 5k you get what you get.

i was looking at tl’s before i bought my accord. theyre really nice. you can pick up a 99-01 for around 5k

How a bout my mercedes ml430? I still get 13/15 mpg AND you get to be baller! And its Beyond, warm, comfy and quiet!..and its quicker than a stock 1.8T jetta

B5 A4 I think they look great. Nice cars and you could easily get one with exhaust tune making 220/280 with susp mods too.

I would also vote e36. Also look really good, handle and ride great. Both cars get good gas mileage as well.

The only other cars I would want for that money would be an NA miata or SN-95 mustang, but those would be summer cars for me. I currently own a B5 A4 and by car before this was an e36, I would recommend either one.

My next recommendation is subaru. Forester or impreza, I like them both a lot. I had an impreza before the e36. Car was old and rusty with 170k and it was super smooth, slow as shit but really smooth and an absolute tank in the snow. It was so fun for only having 110hp. You can actually get high mileage wrx’s now for around $5k.

I really like e36’s i mean who really doesnt but its hard to find ones that arent really beat or have some rediculous modding on them.
Never really sonsidered the S4 sounds like it would be high maintanance because it would be high miles in that price range.
Don, that rs impreza looks pretty awesome as hell.
I like x type jags but they kinda feel like a tauras.
Definitly opening my eyes to whats out there.
