Time to get this out of my garage. 1998 SS M6 t-tops car with a cage. Odometer read right around 75k. Bought it to build a drag car but never did get around to finishing it. I sold most of the go-fast parts I had accumulated over the years. All thats left is the shell. Very clean car but does have a rebuilder title. Apparently is was rear ended at some point, I was unable to find any signs of it. No motor, trans, computer/harness, hood, rear end, wheels or front seats. Located in Baxter Springs KS which is the extreme SE corner of Kansas just off of I-44, about 10 miles west of Joplin MO. $1800
Do your homework on the rebuild title and you will see that NYS is kind of particular about the requirements…car must be pretty damn close to stock to pass. Also a 408 motor in an OBD2 car is kinda crazy so if you arent planning on it being a street car…go for it.
That car is not worth it if you plan on putting it on the road. You would need a complete donor car to transfer everything over. I wonder if it even has the dash, or if that was removed for the cage to go in. He did say it was basically a shell. If you were to make it into a drag car I would say go for it.
There was a wrecked SS on here (the red one) that someone scooped up for $4000. So basically for $5800 you could have had the both of them, and THEN got it to pass the NYS salvage inspection. But for $5800 you can EASILY find a car on LS1tech with a good title that even has a few mods that you would be planning on doing anyway.
Yep when i bought my last car with a salvage title i fixed it up kept all my receipts called nys dmv to make an appointment, then found out i had to wait 8 months for the $120 inspection UGH. i would have called before made an appointment then fixed it in the mean time… The inspection literally took under 1 minute… they looked at my vins and ones that didnt match i had receipts for.
