Low power, funny engine behaviour

So my motor, stops pulling around 4-5 grand (it feels like the Beretta I used to drive, ewww) and, when revving it, if I rev it up a bit to 4 or 5 grand, then as the revs are going down, if I put the pedal halfway down, the engine starts to bog down, and the rpms go down to about 1500. Anybody know what causes this?

I am guessing it is a 240sx.

Change your fuel filter and have a good look over your cap. rotor, wires and plugs. But I am leaning towards a fuel filter.

300ZX one is cheaper and better.

fuel filter is apparently new (bought the car recently, and yes it’s a 240sx, sorry for not specifying) I’ll take a look at the cap/rotor/wires…I put new plugs in it just today, and that didn’t help.

If its only when you rev it high it could be bad wiring to the ecu or something. I had that problem with the transmission speed sensor wire going to the ecu. When disconnected the rev limiter would kick in between 4-5 rpm depending on the gear (usually only 3rd-5th gear).

oh this ain’t rev limiter, it starts to get weak around 4k. And even at idle, it seems to do the same thing. It’s really weird.

Time for SR swap

clean your intake out it could be all gummed up woth crap…take the piping off get some carb cleaner and spray it down into the intake and scrub it with an old toohbrush this should help.

gas or deisel will work like carb cleaner as well.
