NO power @ 3000 rpm

So for the past week my ka has no power at 3000 rpm. it just bogs down till i let my foot off the gas. any help would be great i really dont know where to start.

distributor cap would be a culprit

Distributor cap & rotor. Its like $25 for a champion cap and rotor kit at CT. Also take a look at your spark plugs.

Happened to a buddy’s ST204 Celica a week ago.

hey it could also be a plugged cat. unbolt the exhaust before the cat and see if that makes it better. if it does, then you need to replace the cat. But try the tune up first, if you’ve never done it

Possibly that, or fuel filter.

Does it rev freely in neutral and rev hard in gear and stop at 3000 or does it still keep climbing?

it rev’s fine in neutral but in gear it starts, if i keep my foot down it will clime but with bad hesitation

maf ?

id check maf it could be dirty or could have a bad ground. If not then I’d change ignition (cap and rotor, wires)

i’d say check all sensor relating to the intake and fuel delivery systems.

it only happends after im driving the car for a bit then it bogs right down when i step on it

id start by checking your spark plugs, sounds like there not burning all the fuel and motors getting flooded. after driving pull out ur plugs and see if there wet.

Its the damn o2 sensor or MAF, could be giving messed up readings. I had his problem with all 4 of my s13s and some other cars.

thats what i was thinking, computers getting mixed messages.

lol fixed.
new cap and rotor = nothing
mas = nothing
plugs and wires= nothing
Redone all grounds= nothing
O2 = nothing
fuel filter and there all my power back.

15 bux and its fixed, but it cost me over 250 to find that out

thanks everyone for the help.

thank you as well bro, cuz you may solve other people’s simular problems with a simple 15-20$ fuel filter fix.

Sorry I didn’t post earlier. The guy who I bought the 240 I’m driving right now thought his ka-t engine was done, because he replaced cap, rotor, wires, plugs, dizzy, maf, O2 and computer … I did a compression test when I bought it. turns out it was the same thing. $20 fuel filter.

wouldn’t be bad idea to upgrade to a 300ZX one too!! especially any KA-T guys cuz it’s around the same money, like $40.
