I would like to know if the 92 240sx comes with lsd if not how hard is to install one?And how much it is going to cust me to buy!?Thanks!
yes it does come with a vlsd if its a canadian model
Pre 91 Cdn 240s came with a open diff,
post 91 came with a VLSD
All diffs are R200 style
You will need a shim kit to be safe when swapping (if you do so) as and discprepancies may cause big problems.
There are many companies that make 1, 1.5 and 2 way diffs, as well you can weld up a open lsd for consistant equal load to both rear tires.
k well …i just swapped a s14 jdm diff i got shiped with a clip. all i did was change the back cap peice to my s13 so it would fit. what do you mean a shim kit? and is that why i get a clunking noise in my rear end, can u please pm me more info about that. i would apreciate it, thanks
ok, there’s nothing wrong with just swapping the back plate. Taht will not cause a clunk.
The clunk is most likely caused by the pinion gear being damaged, or the tolorances for play in the gearing are either too tight or too loose. I know the exact names of the tolorances but I’m tired and for some reason the words are not comming to me. They may be a result of damaged bearings, worn teeth, or incorect shims. The only wat to find out is to have someone look at the diff and test all the tolorances and inspect the ring and pinion gear, as well as the shims.
I like toyota and mazda diffs because they do not have shims, but a threaded locating nut on either side of the main housing to align the diff, significantly easier to work with. Nissan should have been on the ball with that kind of thing.
if its retarded loud clunking you might have a kaaz 2way
your talking about shimming the internals if you swap the internals?
not the entire pumpkin and leave the internals alone, right?
Not all Kaaz diffs make noise. My 2-way is very quite…Jesse’s on the other hand…
my friends 180 has a clutch diff and its deff not that type of noise…but its not a clunking like u think …its when i kinda slam a gear, not hard, it sounds like with the tourque it twist it and it hits the frame or somethinkg along the lines. anyone wanna go for a ride ill show u
