i have to agree with him. I Thought trav’s blew up before the fpgreen?
I love this thread. My apples can kick your oranges ass!
it did.
so pretty much all the STI’s that took a dump locally, did it with bolt on’s, correct???
you dont see ANY LSx powered cars blowing up from bolt on’s.
and that 600whp+ STI is nice, but thats on race gas…On pump it was 514whp…A simple cammed, push rod, small block 427 (LS7) puts down higher numbers then that.
dude, stop… picking on STIs is like picking on a blind, retarded kid with half a leg
Anything with 6 liters only making 350-400hp better have a lot of mod room left in before it blows up.
way to contradict yourself.
yours did.
:crackup :crackup :lol
mine had a problem from the day I bought it…and it was stock!
Kid before me sprayed it…he had too. Motors just dont develop a hole in a piston.
“they just dont”… is not a valid excuse.
You’ve talked to the previous owner many times, why don’t you just ask him instead of going by these lame assumptions? or are you scared what he might tell you? ;D
its easy to tell if it was sprayed look in the rear for where the nitrous bottle was mounted, usually they put it in the side panels, look for signs they were removed, look for grommets or holes on the firewall from the nitrous line coming through. solenoid mounting… and the all-mighty LSx should be able to hand a little spray… stock engine, bolt on Audis are taking 50shots, joes stock K20 is taking nearly a 100 shot. facts > assumptions.
he claimed he never had nitrous on it…but he said he beat the shit out of it…But I beat the shit out of it as well.
yah…most guys run a 150 wet shot on a bone stock LS1 and it handles it all day long.
so the facts are telling me that the stock ls1 that came in your SS was a giant peice of shit, but you saying something MUST have been done to it cause LS1s are the best engines EvAR!1 and things like that just don’t happen (uh huh)… your argument is beyond weak.
you guys throw the big engine thing in all the time, but you can run a car with big cubes and big hp with WAY more street manners than you can with a smaller engine, when do you ever see N/A, hondas putting down 400whp? Ive never seen, maybe its happened before but i dont know about it. Even a turbo car like stallmers, cars quick as shit but has a good amount of boost going to it. Where a car like mine would take about 5 psi to make the same power, so your asking why dont you see 18 psi ls1’s? because its not something that can be tamed on the street, it would be overkill.
And i am just discussing small displacement with big displacement, mind you i mean not to offend anyone, both have there advantages
There are 400whp N/A Hondas out there…with a K series, it can easily be done. As well as some SOHC and B series N/A touching 400whp.
:rofl
takes alot of juice. i think hes talking no spray NA… the highest hp NA honda ive seen was i think a k26/k20 worked to the gills making 320whp ALL MOTOR, no juice. dont quote me. but its in that ball park
You’re absolutely right. But they’re arguing that modded STIs are blowing up with bolt ons @ 400whp while LS1s w/ 400whp arent. It’s because the STI is making the same 400whp with 2.5 or 2.0 or whatever liters while the LSx motors have 5.7+ so they arent nearly as stressed. The STI is nearing the limit of its power threshold while the LSx isnt anywhere close. (This is where the LSx monkey beat their chests and say that they are God’s gift to cars). :nana
I’m not talking juice. There’s an all motor, ITB, K26/K20, pretty worked making 372whp, streetable
and there’s a SOHC race car, F series making 400whp.
yes ive seen the F series go, its bisi ezeriohas Insight.

Oh noes, you mean cars that are making more than 125-150whp/L are blowing up? For those that don’t do math, that’s between 312–385whp. How many 712-855whp LS1’s do you see daily driven and driven hard? Making mroe than 125-150whp per liter of displacement is still an awesome feat for cars. Yes, there’s several cars making more on insanely built bottom ends, but 125-150whp/L on a stock bottom end is still nothing to shake a stick at.
I don’t get what you guys still don’t get, as it’s what ALL domestics owners argue: There’s no replacement for displacement.
Subaru’s motors DO suck compared to other motors in the similar displacement, like the 4G63, SR20DET, hell, even a K24/K20. Those motors also don’t have the low end like the H4’s do. Justin’s STi put down 300whp and 405wtq UNcorrected (so no one plays the Travis argument lol).
Let’s see you try to squeeze 200hp/L out of ANY size motor, FI or N/A. It’s fucking hard and ANYONE will tell you that. A 400whp all-motor K20 would just be insane. How many 1100whp+ all-motor LS1’s do you see that are street driven?
