LT1 questions.

If you ever need help with anything on it, drop me a line, I’d be more than willing to help…

yeah, thanks  i figured to invest 7300 in the car, 2700 in parts & labor - I’d have a pretty nice ride, as opposed to nearly 20Kish for the same thing in LS1 flavor that I’m not really going to take advantage of. Glad some of you realize that I’m just trying to make it reliable, not fast.

Ordered the Valeo stock clutch from CA today, paid a shitload for shipping - but trying to get this thing out of the shop by this coming Friday, so I want the parts for my mechanic on Monday. Like, as many as possible  Doing pretty good so far - I don’t think I’ve ever spent this much on parts in 24hrs!

I’ll post up pics in the next couple of weeks after the tint’s installed. Can’t wait to get this done!

WHY WHY WHY??? You do realize that the replacement clutches that places like NAPA and CARQUEST sell are made by Valeo? You could’ve had a clutch tomorrow for no shipping charge.

because I didn’t know that before, Jason.

There are always common f-body mistakes. Will learn the hard way

At any rate, just came in the mail today, picking up the clutch hydraulics & hypertech t-stat to fix the fucky aforementioned units. I love buying parts

sounds great, :word: all that advice is good

So, some pics would be smashing, yeah? :stuck_out_tongue:

I want to see the gisser, and work in some NC hotties, too

Nice buy, sounds hot.

haha, I’ll get pics this coming saturday. So far I’ve cleaned the throttle body, MAF, & seafoamed the intake, & changed the filthy-ass air filter. Runs a lot better already

Washed & waxed it on Sunday, as well as conditioned the leather. Lexol from Advance fucking rules. Can’t wait to use that stuff in the GSR.

I don’t think the interior plastic/vinyl’s been armor all’d since the Clinton administration.

Tint hopefully Friday, then pics once the car’s back in my hands and running.

MSD Opti is the most baller looking part I have ever purchased. Almost want to mount it on the wall…

And paying $310 for a GM water pump from the stealership sucks, but when you need it now, you need it now :frowning: Jeg’s has quite the redonk backorder policy. F that.

Dude…you should have asked around. I’m pretty sure PMP has like at least 3 of them laying around, or you could call Summit and order an electric one for 169 bucks.

Again I am sure NAPA or CARQUEST both have new pumps in stock for a tad over $100. Why would you go to the GM dealer and pay list price?? Looks like you like spending dumb amounts of money. I think you should call me up

Wow - I didn’t even think to check either place for this part for some reason. Thanks for the input on that one, Jason. I’ll see if I can return the one to the stealership & go for a CarQuest or Napa unit.

Aside from that, I just want an original style pump, and not sure who PMP is. If it’s a local shop you’re talking about, keep in mind that I’m in NC and need the part by tomorrow at the latest. If Carquest or Napa can’t get it in tomorrow, then the GM one it is.

Update:

Spun a bearing after getting the car back. Why? No clue. LT1s hate me

Time to sell the MSD dizzy and the T56 w/new stock clutch.

Doing what I should have done in the first place, and having SS Motorsports down here do an LS1 swap from a '99 Camaro SS for $3K:tup:

if nothing else - the car looks great!

so you have a t56 you say? pm me!

I’ll be home over Halloween with the GSR, much to my gf’s chagrin. Let me know all you need from it, and I may have it out by then. If not, might have to wait til I’m home over Xmas break if the swap is going to take longer. All depends what I find out from him tomorrow as to if the '99 LS1 is def still available.

$3k out the door? fucking score!

That’s what I said. He’ll do $1500 for the LS1 & trans (on the entire K-member, at that) w/ 70K, and 1K for labor. I’m factoring in another $500 for the fucky issues, and meh - prolly another $500 atop that for any other misc shit.

This thing was such a bitch to work on, that when I asked him about a future CC306 cam swap, he was like ‘Fuck. How about an LS1 swap?’, just kidding.

I asked how much labor would be.

Then I was like, well… shit. I’ll just do it as soon as possible, or if the LT1 blows up.

Didn’t think it’d be the next day, but I can’t say I’m all broken up about it

Everyone on here is gonna love you for doing an LS1 swap

3k on an ls1, 1k on a cam & rods > 4k into an lt1.

Meh - I’d like to just do a decent cam while the engine’s out to accompany some decent headers eventually & a CAI when I get some of this paid off. For now I’ll be quite happy just to have the LS1 in the car, and have someone else wrestle in these headers eventually. Overall, as stated before… I just want a decent cruiser.
