People wouldn’t sit quietly in a movie theater that just got filled with gas/smoke and has somebody firing off a very loud gun. It would be a screaming smoke-filled stampede in a dark theater, which I guarantee it was, and good luck with that.
I never said id go be the hero. As i stated if there wasnt a clean shot or attempt, id of hid and tried to survive, if he got close enough or made a go at me then, tried to of shot him. Your what ifs are the same as mine. “what if he had a second partner and was watching?” “what if someone got a clean shot off?” “what if i was the second gun man and the carpeted knoll?” no one knows what could of happend.
Exactly, nobody knows yet people are quick to say that this absolutely would have been a better situation if the guns laws were more lenient without even trying put themselves into that situation.
And Colonie Center movie theater already has signs that say “no guns allowed on premises”. course, who pays attention to that “sign” anyway.
If a couple of these people were carrying in the theater, the outcome may not have been what it was.
It’s always a possibility that someone does carry a gun in that situation. And then accidentally kills a couple of people while trying to take out the shooter, because he was under adrenaline and in a dark theater in a middle of a panicking crowd. And possibly even runs out of ammo in the process before taking the shooter out. All of which is much more likely than him being an unflappable hero who takes surefire shots in such situation. What do you think that would do for gun laws? If you wonder how well regular people will fair in this situation you can take a look at stats for cop and other enforcement agency shootings, and see how many shots hit out of the number they fired. And those guys do it for a living.
EDIT: All of this is moot point btw, because in this case the shooter was also wearing bullet vest, and other armor. They had it happen in that north Hollywood robbery, it took a SWAT team to put them down.
Friendly fire happens even in trained military where the “other guys” in Afghanistan look nothing like US soldiers. And the numbers for friendly fire are huge.
Oleg - an average civilian with a gun would have EASILY taken out Ak47, full auto, armored robbers in Cali. Who are you kidding?
One civilian with a gun will stop all the violence.
Except you know, with lenient gun laws means you will never want to go trough Schenectady or Harbor Hill ever again.
Yeah vest, helmet, leg guards, gas mask. Guy was a juggernaut unless someone was carrying a concealed light saber.
It is a terrible situation that I don’t think could be avoided, except if the parents spoke up earlier.
What it comes down to vlad is plain and simple. If you were in a situation where an attacker was present, would you or would you not want to be armed? I think anyone can say yes to that. Unfortunatly, we live in an area where it isnt that easy to do that.
I’d rather get the fuck out of there as many did instead of being the next Zimmerman case for doing what is “seemingly right” in the circumstances.
Don’t you think looking back he would have rather just went back to his car and never have the altercation no matter who is at fault? (Zimmerman)
You want to ruin your entire life in a split second decision for trying to be a hero, go ahead.
This guy was a mad man for sure.
The gunman wore protective armor around his body, neck and groin, a helmet and a gas mask as he faced the audience. He then set off two gas canisters, containing an irritant, and opened fire with an assault rifle, a shotgun and at least one .40-caliber Glock pistol. What many thought was part of a stunt quickly turned deadly.
“He didn’t say anything,” said Tayler Trujillo, 18, part of the audience. “He kicked the door open with his foot and held it open with his foot and he threw something and it landed in the row in front of me. Then it, like, went off – kind of like a firework – and gas filled the room. All you heard was ‘Get down! Get down!’
“I felt like I couldn’t breathe, my eyes were really super watery,” she said.
“And then shots just started being fired, so many, and it stopped for a second, and everybody was, like ‘Go! Go! Go!’ but then he started to fire again and then I had to go back down,” Trujillo said. “Honestly, I just started praying. I thought I was going to die.”
Booby trapped the hell out of his appartment too.
Jesus christ. Theres never a win here.
I don’t know why you’re even trying. The guys beyond pretentious.
My wife told me this evening that she read police think that he either had an accomplise or had previously jammed the door lock. This whole thing is so damn premeditated I would ascertain its the latter of the two but who knows. Either way it’s completely fucked up
What are you trying to win at exactly?
All the problems in the world are because two sides don’t see eye to eye. It can’t be fixed so might as well enjoy a good discussion and try to present your points to the other side.
I don’t expect others to agree with me and most rarely do, but I’ll express my side as I’m free to do so. I also enjoy a good debate, if you don’t then ignore my posts as many do.
As I’ve said before, this event isn’t a problem, it’s a fluke, and it can’t be fixed so it should be reported on, and learned from but acted on whether more guns or less.
College grad in neuroscience? I think. Outstanding grades, no prior history, extremely well calculated out attack and trouble free surrender. Guy is nuts, nuts a free country and you’re free to be nuts until it’s too late.
It comes down to this simple question. You answered it with a totally irrelevant way. “id get my ass out of there”. Well, go for it! Run by the guy with the AK. Ill hide with my glock 45 next to me so if he gets close to me im defending myself or going down trying.
I’m sure you’ll do just fine sitting in tear gas filled dark room against an armored guy armed to the teeth.
Tear gas works by irritating mucous membranes in the eyes, nose, mouth and lungs, and causes crying, sneezing, coughing, difficulty breathing, pain in the eyes, temporary blindness, etc.
Looks like we are both equally retarded then.
And people ask why i carry all the time. I would rather have it with me and not have to use it than, have to use it and not have it.
must have been on BATH SALTS too!
Look, the guy was one-man SWAT op. He had people inside a dark box with one or two narrow exits, threw some gas in there, and then came in firing, while fully armored and wearing a gas mask. A pro wouldn’t be able to do anything in this situation other than maybe tackle him if he was sitting close enough and before the gas makes him as useless as anybody else. That’s how terrorists and hostage-tackers get taken out, and they are armed themselves. Would any one of us feel better about having a gun in that situation? Probably. Would it help? Most likely not unless you plan on also carrying a gas mask yourself, along with a bullet-proof vest.
^ Bingo.
