i think the reason your car sucked in the rain was cuz of the tire itself, 615’s aren’t the greatest in the rain, insane in the dry though. Car looks insane dude, i m looking to setup to the same rim and tire size next year.

yo rogerthat240, what exhaust is that?

Gyani: I agree, you’re right.

Slim: It’s a BRM exhaust (nicoclub) 2.5" stainless steel piping, cat, 22" magnaflow resonator, dual tip magnaflow muffler.

Honestly with the interior stripped out its still too loud lol… but its not 3" loud. It’s just right for a KA. I wish I could quiet it down more, but I blame the extra noise not on the exhaust but cusco mounts, race tranny mount, bings’ polyurethane exhaust mounts all that put in the mumbo jumbo mix.

I don’t like loud cars, loud =/= fast. If I ever get to do an LS swap as I plan to, I’ll make sure to make it as quiet and muffled as possible.

I rather save my ears than gain 5whp lol. Then again stripping the car isn’t exactly smart either, but I don’t care at the end of the day. It’ll be a track slut.

I apologize, as they are neither. I was refering to rogers wheels size. I have Veilside rims.

Ah cool, I like the look of it, though I also want one that isn’t too loud

rogerthat240 what kind of modifying did you have to do to front and rear fenders to get that wheel/rim combo to work, and does your front wheel rub in the inner lip of the frame or anywhere at full lock? That setup is exactly what i was looking at running, with maybe a slightly more aggressive offset.

did u mean 215’s lol? so what would be a good size of tire for both the rain and dry? 235’s? 245’s? also depends on what type of tire u get right? i was looking on getting Falken FK452s … any other tire type suggestions?

Gyani: Can you not see the roll in the rear? (On rogerthat240)

Either way. If you’re gonna do a more aggressive offset you will most likely have to either pull further, over fenders, or do what all the JDM’ers are doing and stretch. Well, you could probably get away with a mild stretch in that case.

mild stretch meaning in what size? 235’s for both front n rear?

Personally i m gonna run direzza z specs, as everyone i know that has run them says there the shit, slighly more expensive then rt615’s but there grip in the rain is unimaginable, and no i didn’t mean 215’s that shit is weak, i was talking about the 255’s. The tire size you choose is up to you, all tire sizes have their advantages and disadvantages, if your just gonna occasioannly track it, and its a stock KA i woudl say get 225 all around and call it a day.

OH by the way, have any of you guys heard of A-Tech Final Speed wheels? The look practically the same as the competitions, 5 spoke, but are bronze in colour. Another type of rim that i saw was nice is Bee*R B5 in bronze or black :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t plan on stretching my tires to much, and yea i meant to ask how much rolling he did, like if he just slight got the fenders rolled and pulled or a lot. And i m not really curious about the rear more so about the front, because that’s were all of us get all the problems.

Yes I would call that a mild stretch. At one point I had 245/40/17’s on my rims… and they were minimally stretched. I would live with that size tire on my car again.

Gyani: maybe it’s because I have an S14. But I have more problems in the rear with 0 problems up front. I have non rolled fenders up front. I’ve only rubbed them once. When I was angled up an awkward angled drive way…

I m not referring to street driving, because on the street it is fine, i am referring to full lock with suspension travel, ie track or drift. I ran 17 x 8 with zero offsets with a 225/45/17 up front for a track day and the inner lip of the frame in the front scraped off the entire inner sidewall of the tire, i didn’t notice till i got home, but it took all the rubber off, to the point where you could see the steel reinforcing belts. Hence, the currosity.

so do u prefer the direzza z1 star spec tires from dunlop or the falken azenis rt615’s for rain and dry?

Haven’t tried either tire myself, have sat in cars with both sets and seen them pushed really hard on track and street, in rain and dry and from that i 've decided i m going to run Z specs.

I have a set of direzza dz101’s, semi-old tire, and their insane in the dry and rain. In the rain they behave almost exactly the same as dry. They give you the illusion that your car is 4wd and not rear wheel drive.

i just checked both tires on the dunlop site … they look pretty sweet … u ever come across Federal 595s? the competition series ones. they’re the same tires in the pics i posted above with the fn01r-c rims

I m running federal 595’s front and back on street, pretty decent in train and dry, plus u can do whatever stupid shit you want, cuz there cheap as shit. As far as drifting goes, best tire you can get, hence why everyone runs it. I only started running federals after everyone told me how it good was. I dont’ know if i would wanna grip on them though, they aren’t really made more grip grip.

Lock to lock, I still have no problems. I auto-x my car.

oh ok good to know … so out of all these tires, which i will list, which ones are good for just everyday driving and maybe an occasional track run with a stock KA:

Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec
Dunlop Direzza DZ101
Falken FK452
Falken Azenis RT615
Federal 595
