And thats on s14 rite? damn, stupid clearance on s13.
depends on your budget which tire you run, but for grip/daily i would run z1’s.
these tires that ive listed here will be on 1990 240sx
Gyani: Yes it is an S14. I can’t see my wheel wells being significantly bigger though.
For the record. I’m running cheap ass Nexen 3000 tires on my car. It’s ridiculously hard for me to break traction in even wet conditions… And even some snow covered conditions…
heyy quick question, where could i possibly get that lip kit that u have on ur 240sx? mines a 1990 … and how much would it cost for front, rear and side lips?
^UGH… That’s an OEM lip kit… It’s not made anymore. You can buy cheap replicas or find another member who has them for sale. Mint condition OEM stuff will not be cheap.
I don’t know about wheel wells per say, but looking at a number of s14’s over the rears, they can just fit bigger tires and rims, they have a different fender or wheel well or something. On the street everything is fine, i myself am running federal 595’s front and rear and couldn’t be happier.
Just fyi the rt615s felt unsafe in the rain yesterday lol. I swear, it was scary. I had to drive 80-100km the whole time on the highway, i mean it was massive amounts of layers of water on the road and it was plowing like crazy with more rainfall, but… it was really unimaginably unsafe. The car was skating all over the place. Even at low speed I went on purpose on some small roads 50-60km/hr, moving steering wheel left/right it was like ice skating. I guess the cold weather (hardens summer rubber not meant for the temperature) + lots of layers of water = really bad for this tire. Even my dad’s car with GS-D3s which are awesome in rain, wasn’t doing too good and I guess it has to do with the temperature and how it affects the summer compound. The car is in winter storage now. My volvo daily is back on the road and in contrast, it’s snow tires are gripping like crazies now both in the dry and in the rain. The winter tires on 15" wheels rock the road. The compound doesn’t harden like the summer tires… it’s meant for what it’s meant for. But I already miss my 240
FYI, I cut a tiny bit off the front bumper where the tire arches are. I smashed the seams upwards, I tucked the harness a bit in with zipties. I flattened the lips of the front fenders and pulled a bit outwards. It fit perfect. No rubbing. 7.0 caster, -3.0 camber. SPL tie rods.
The rear, honestly… inner clearance is no issue at all, you could run a really high offset and fit fat tires easily. The only thing was outer clearance, so either do what I did, or run higher offset. I flattened the lip and rolled/flared. Initially I ran -2.0 then stepped down to -1.5 as it was too much camber for the rear to be stable or so it seemed. I’ll be playing with the car more when in spring.
