I have always kept my nose clean…
Yes, and accomplice to man slaughter because they purchased the car illegally…
Remember the gun thread?
I know, i was kidding.
“hey, i fucked up. sorry two people are dead. i didn’t really mean for it to happen, it won’t happen again.”
NO fault of his own…
Put it this way, if a 55 year old man was driving his new corvette and was in the SAME position as the srt-4 driver… everything would be DROPPED.
they are making an example out of some kids life.
not the srt… the mustang. I’m talking about the parents of the deceased.
and i know it wasn’t illegally purchased lol… that was just a crude play on the already twisted judgment regarding this case and ridiculous sentencing.
I don’t know… they both wanted to race… If two boxers have a match, and one boxer gets hit and somehow dies in the ring, the other boxer doesnt get charged with murder… they both know what they are getting in to.
we dont know if he caused the accident. this implies he caused the accident.
the charge implies he caused the accident. if he did not CAUSE the accident then he should NOT be in prison for manslaughter.
Street racing= free buttsex
but boxing isnt illegal lol
Eh, my $0.02:
This is a slap in the face to personal responsibility. Nobody forced the other kid to street race, so convicting the other party of homicide is crap.
If he had killed someone innocent while racing, then yeah. But the other car was a wiling party.
if this happened on a drag strip it wouldn’t be an issue. IT WAS LEGAL.
If two boxers go at it, its a boxing match and a legally sanctioned event.
If me and you decide tonight that we want to box in an alley way and i punch you in the fucking head and you die…I’M GOING DOWN FOR MURDER.
This thread makes me feel awesome about myself.
FIXED
the “story” supposedly was that he hit gravel, and either misshifted/downshifted when he was supposed to upshit, or upshifted when he hit gravel and when the car switched gears it broke loose
should the town be sued and going to jail wtf :picard:
mejak is the only one left who they are able to “charge”
and yeah, i just quoted myself.
This isn’t even admissible in court.
How would anyone know that? It’s speculation.
I’m just advocating, and you obviously make good points from a legal standpoint.
Taking away from the fact that it was an illegal street race, i’m simply implying that the deceased was well aware of how hard he was pressing the accelerator pedal, just like a boxer is aware of the fact he’s getting hit in the head, or the gunslinger is aware of how hard he is squeezing the trigger.
LEGALLY, you are very correct in everything you’ve stated, hence the sentence received. Logically, however, the legal system is seriously failing to provide fairness. If he was speeding/racing on public roads, then he should be charged for that.
This wasn’t deathrace, there were no machine guns, tire spikes, leather-clad hookers or molotov cocktails. This was two idiots racing, and one idiot fucked up due to lack of experience. While the other is still an idiot, he is not responsible for someone else’s fuckup. I’m sorry if that seems very insincere to the deceased, but facts are facts.
Obviously this has been argued to death, and will not really go anywhere, so i’ll leave it with that, and go grab some denny’s…yum
AGREED. No one forced the other party to race.
It was their choice and their mistake.
Blaming this guy for the other partys stupidity is just that, Stupid.
AND IT IS ALSO SPECULATION MEJAK CAUSED THIS ACCIDENT. HIM CAUSING THE ACCIDENT IS WHAT PUT HIM IN PRISON FOR 3 YEARS. NOT STREET RACING. WTF
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Ouch that sentencing is rough. I don’t agree with it at all. I think community service and maybe force him to do a documentary on all the dangers and occurrences that have happened in new york having to do with street racing and interview other people and their families of victims or the accused. that would be much more effective.
There was no physical action or CONTACT by Mejac upon the deceased which would have directly contributed to the crash. He was in the next lane over. He did not cause the deceased to lose control of the car. Your analogy is a very poor one and is wrong.
No, it was a confession. “I raced him, he crashed and died”. It takes two to race. If Mejak never raced him, the other party would not be dead.
It’s not like he is being charged with murder. The law is not saying that Mejak killed the two people. The law is saying that during the execution of a felony where two parties share equal responsibility, as of a direct effect of this illegal action…someone was killed. You can’t argue with that.
For christ’s sake, it’s only three years. It’s going to be like High school.
