Mike's neverending Honduh Del Sol build. Not mobile friendly

working on some new cardboard templates

After I was happy with the fit of the cardboard template, I punched it into solidworks and progressed the design a little bit more:

Here is some inspiration.

I’m familiar with it, I mentioned it in here before: http://www.nyspeed.com/showthread.php?74377-Mike-s-neverending-Honduh-Del-Sol-build.-Not-mobile-friendly&p=3168516&viewfull=1#post3168516

obviously, I think mine will be better

You don’t see it?

Awesome work though, it’ll be worth the wait to resume in the end I’m sure.

lol I really don’t see it at all.

should have just bought a Fiero, haha, looks good and will be very unique when done!

Made a first draft of the engine mount design. I’m planing for it to tie in between the boxed up frame rail and the rear bars of the roll bar.

ha, yea well creating the parts and building it myself is a lot more fun than just buying a mid engine car.

I’m working on the final design for the suspension setup, rates and springs already picked out along with ratios for the bell cranks. now it’s just checking clearances and making sure that everything will fit together properly. The center shock mount will need to be redesigned but other than that it’s looking pretty good.

too hot to work in the garage today so I played around with this a little bit:

still working out some details here:v

and found a reason to fire up the new welder

factory spot welds had rusted through, sandblasted her off and bolted the ends back on the car.

first few welds, not too bad for badly pitted metal

won’t be the strongest piece in the world, but will do more than the factory spot welds. Now just to coat/paint it and it’s already to go.

Cool man. to any progress.

Headed out after the weekend?

Dan

heading out tomorrow.

Well I’m back. For the next few months I’ll be away and back a couple weeks at a time until the end of November so hopefully I can get some work done on this. Trying to figure out if my engine is ready right now.

Here is a quick dump of pictures as I wrap up some work and get ready to bring the car back to NY

This car has made a hell of a change since the last time I saw this thread. Keep up the sick work!

ha, yea. the more interesting updates buried 20 pages in throw people off.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Come on, nothing? This is a tough crowd to impress.

it’s one picture with zero details, did you expect a standing ovation?

A cookie would do.
