Misunderstanding oil classifications

So I was told NEVER to put GL-5 gear oil in for my tranny, but every oil I see says “meets GL-4 and GL-5 specifications”

So would that oil be acceptable to run or is there a specific oil to use? I called napa, part source and nissan and none of em had a straight GL-4 oil. I’d like to change the tranny oil when I do my coils this weekend so if anyone knows that’d be amazing.

Car Quest has GL-4 Pennzoil.

“meets GL-4 and GL-5 specifications” means either would work. so yeah, you can use it.

Both amsoil and redline have gl4 transmission oil. Find a dealer.

local parts source should have amsoil.
