i agree with you… im not always on… and i couldn’t get my pm’s for awhiles cause it was my computer… but he made the thread… and before i got to post in it there was already 3949242934 different posts by other people…
i dunno i got banned by Rx3 but you know what… as much as i hated it i deserved it for a thread that he locked and i reopened…
no hard feelings right Rx3? least i don’t have any… he did his job fairly… what he chose to say at the end of the locked thread i didn’t agree with…but his house his rules…
as far as other stuff… well i dunno i guess its always been said… if you can’t handle the heat… then stay the fuck out of the kitchen…
plus !!! everyone break out the pens and write this down… you will need to save this for further reference…
but when a MOD tells you NOT TO POST IN A THREAD OR YOU WILL BE BANNED AND YOU DO ANYWAYS … write this down now… YOU WILL BE BANNED…
they kinda called it… and people kinda posted… so they only did what they said they were gonna do… they CALLED IT IN ADVANCED to PROTECT YOU from posting… … but people did it anyways…
i think bill engval says it best…
locking threads is a good thing, it just gets too far off topic with other shit and leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. if it kills drama dead, I love it.
my only suggestion is to not add so much venom into the fatal strike. tell them what they did wrong and kill the thread. otherwise I like his and the other mods modding ability.
there are quite a few other forums I visit, not just the cross-town ones either, that seem like the mods just let shit ride forever. I enjoy a good smack upside someone’s head as much as the next guy, but not for 135 pages.
please don’t let this forum degenerate into fucking playschool for idiots and drama queen/kings.
i understand both sides of this “controversy” - but i think we should all keep in mind that being a moderator is not an always an easy thing.
a mod is obligated to do the right thing regardless of the parties involved or the circumstances. This is essentially a thankless job with the only reward being a forum that is not filled with tools and meaningless topics.
with the whole chris/jim thread, rick was placed in a difficult position when people not directly involved continued to post even after it was clearly posted that they would get banned. when tested in this manner, I’m sure anyone in rick’s shoes would have handled it the same way he did.
people in positions of authority don’t always have it easy. in this format of a forum, authority figures are necessary to keep things running smoothly.
though I may not completely agree with the actions of mods, this is still their forum, their playground. it’s just like elementary school - if you don’t like the way the kids are playing, you may need to find another place to play.
Not gonna read through all this, but I feel like posting what I feel about moderation. This isnt a public forum. Sleepy and the other mods run it, support it, and pay for it. It is like we are in their house. When youre at someones house, you dont question their rules, because they are being generous enough to let you be there. So, as a way of showing respect for the mods who started this board, and keep it going, I dont think its too much to ask that you follow their requests…
Before we all make assumptions about the moderation… also know that all the moderators don’t think alike…
Each of us have different personalities, and we may or may not agree 100% with eachother on everything… as it should be… This is a balance of power… we keep eachother in check too.
I refuse to let this become another us ( the mods ) against you ( the public ) non-sense… because it is far from the case.
we dont pay for it, you do. by supporting the businesses that advertise here, or buying stickers, or whatever.
this is not our (the mods) house, it is our (the communities) site. hence the reason people can still post here when they are banned, and people can question a mods actions without fear of being perminatly banned or being made the mods whipping boy.
some of the mods are more agressive than other, like ninja mentioned. but it works out well as far as checks and balances.
personally i feel that this has blown up because a couple of users didnt read forum guidlines. then asked that we add a feature that we had already added months before hand, and people arent using.
there are certain things we (and i especially) wont fuck around about, and its the classifieds. if you rip someone off, or try to, you will not pass go, and you will not collect 200 dollars.
its early, and i didnt spell check this. grammer/spelling nazis can eat balls
why does it matter if there is alot of drama in the OT forum. Are we that concerned about bandwidth. I think it’s funny, entertaining, and it doesnt hurt anyone. I pretty much just want to tell everyone to fuck off, and then go hang out with them in real life because they are cool, and the internet is just a big joke.
