I can’t wait for that movie to come out!
i meant to say 4 speed manual, obvious word slip. :roll2:
In regards to it being about your team since all the cars on the same, how come every team with a championship driver, their teammates don’t do as well even though they get the same resources? Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson have 2 other cars with hendrick that constantly shuffle drivers because nobody ever wins in them. Tony stewart’s teammate hasn’t done anything. Roush is probably the closest to having all their drivers competitive, but they’re all big-name, big contract drivers. Championship caliber team does not = championship
The same reason that Hasek couldn’t win a cup for us. It’s a TEAM. If your driver doesn’t work well with the team, then how are they supposed to communicate back and forth to get the car setup the way it needs to be?
Maybe it’s partially because his team sucks… How many races would he (and Raikonnen) have won if he was driving for Renault? Speaking of which, how many people think Alonso is going to really regret going to McLaren next year?
Granted JPM has made some mistakes, but unlike some over-rated drivers (Sato, and Button to name two) he’s had the speed.
I love threads about nascar where half the people in them know nothing about the sport yet act like they have it figured out. If you think nascar is more team dependant than f1 you = retarded. If you think nascar drivers have no skill you = retarded. I don’t thinkthere is a driver in f1 who could make the transition to a cup car and instantly be succesful nor do I think a cup driver could in F1. Heres a question , have any of you ever drove a race car before? On a real track? I’m not talking auto-x btw.
Yes. and Yes. I’m not talking about a 1/4 mile roundy round track btw.
I am in and around this shit everyday, so yes, I am biased. Just like anyone who autoX’s or runs road circuits, will be biased towards road course style racing over oval track.
it is easy to make fun of then it is to understand everything NASCAR is.
i race the " roundy round " cars and i have been on road race coarses. passing someone on 18* of banking is much harder then banging the gears on a road coarse with 0* of banking. but most of the people will not understand that because they are {go with the flow type of racers} and will not try anything else. I will put on the flame suit, but until you have tried it, you can not compare. I under stand left and right hand turns and in DIRT racing you turn more right then left and that is " roundy round "
Nascar = fun the american way.
you emkay and fastischeep don’t count and that comment was not directed to you 3
18* banking opens more lines.
0* banking you are fighting cars for the SAME line.
How is being able to choose a racing line harder than fighting for the same one?
what is your justifaction?
define please.
by that comment you have never drove on a banked track.
OT: this thread got far off topic…
So are you saying speedways (such as Lowe’s levigating) don’t spend millions to alter their tracks to create multiple racing lines?
Where as road course such as Watkin Glen only alter there tracks SPECIFICALLY so NASCAR driver don’t kill themselves (J.D. McDuffie 1991).
And Nelson has banked turns that allows for passing on the outside with a well set-up car. If it were a 100% flat track there is no way I could have made some passes. But some of those I end up on the out side of the turn (in relation to the car) so I am sure they do not count.
Now I will go back to the original question that I asked:
Yes it did get off topic. Comparing Nascar to F1 is like comparing apples to oranges. Each focus on different aspects of racing, so would everyone PLEASE stop bitching at eachother (unless you’ve actually had race experience).
Now… back on topic, Montoya has already been replaced. McLaren released him from his contract and replaced him with Friday driver Pedro de La Rosa.
What did the five fingers say to the face??? JPM knows…
In all fairness thats not entirely true. Lots of ovals only have one good line and just like on a road course protecting the bottom is very important. I don’t understand why people think circle track racing is so easy.
because they’ve never done it.
kickflips look pretty easy too.
it wasnt you who said it. it came from your partner in crime.
if that were the case, i know a guy here who love craps, and usually cleans house. i bet he could win a few races.
i was being sarcastic. ive been a fan of nascar sinse i was old enough to watch tv. and i get a kick out of it when some peepz are so focused on its southern based roots and low tech cars that they miss what its all about.
the reason Montoya left F1 for NASCAR IMO is because the parity between sucessful NASCAR teams is much closer than in F1. Many of the 43 cars that start a race in NASCAR have a good chance of winning any race. Where in F1 you have to be with one of the few top teams to even have a shot and probably only a few drivers each season even win a race. Its not only about the money to these drivers, Montoya probably could have gotten a ride with a number of F1 teams. you need to win every now and then to keep that competative drive.
My parents are big into Nascar, so I have watched alot of races, and know enough about the sport in general to consider myself more than a “casual observer”. The cars are far from “low tech”. And I can’t stand it when people claim pushrods as being “archaic”. My real beef with Nascar is that it used to be homologated. You used to be able to buy the same car off the lot. I could go to the deal and buy a super bee. That is what the sport did for the fans. Gave us awesome cars. What does it do now? Loosely bases the body on some crappy coupe, and then the insides are almost all the same. Whether they are turning in circles or not, it was what Nascar gave back to the fans that made them a success.
Your original question is more of a lie with and option attached to it.:hay:
Ok, we really need to start a new tread. Because this is far off point.
But I do not understand your justification. IMO you are being an “arm chair racer” 10% facts and 90% bullsh*t. And in a different thread i will list them. Do you know why they race on banked tracks?..YES… No, I will let you WWW.GOOGLE.COM that one and you can state what someone else’s option.:meh: You have presented many fallacies in your statement that make you sound like your a racing virgin… It is hard for me to begin to comprehend your premises. I want the facts…
