Those who have purchased a home who did you deal with for a mortgage and who would you recommend to check out. I am currently shopping around and any advice would be appreciated
Thank you in advance.

I dealt with M&T and was not happy at all. However I purchased when they were making a bunch of new rules so I understand some of it was not their fault. I still felt they were TERRIBLE at getting back to me and returning calls. My mortgage consultant was amazing though and has since left to work for First Niagara. Give him a call and he can help you out with any questions. Make sure you do the first home club for your free $7500!

first time home club, who is that through? First niagara or m+t
Stay away from M&T. They hosed me as well.
Yup, fucked by m&t too, took 11 months to close. I felt like I had to babysit them. I dealt with 3 different people because I had to complain so much. It was seriously pathetic. Even after I closed I got a call saying they missed a paper and if I didn’t get it back to them they could take the house back.
OMG, ok no M+T
HSBC was great for me. Absolutely great the entire process. I ended up getting 5.0% interest (after just missing a 4.85% rate), which is still very low, and since I do all of my banking through them, it all happens seamlessly.
Very good stuff to say about HSBC
I’ve heard that Bank of America is pretty good to deal with.
I went with one of the mortgage brokers that sell off you mortgage. The account is held now by Flagstar Bank in Michigan. Can’t really speak for their service though.
I have heard so many people say they loved HSBC when I complain to everyone about m&t, my next home purchase in a couple years will be through hsbc. But obviously no first hand experience.
Great input thanks everyone keep it coming.
Many banks do the First Home Club. 10 months is the quickest it can be done IIRC. Needs to be finished by closing so you could really find the house you like after about 8 months.
yeah that’s not an option right now, we are under contract so getting a decent person is a must and now.
I just looked that program up, it’s pretty damn cool that they do that.
They’re smart, seeing as how that make that money back in ~6 months.
Are you trying to buy commercial or residential?
residential
i tried to go through century 21 bank, they were ok… but the deal fell through due to the seller is a silly person…
I used sun trust… it was suggested to me through my mortgage broker. Everything went very smooth, no problems closed in two months. I ended up getting a great %.
FUCK HUNT MORTGAGE. that is all.
