Super is overrated? lol
Overrated : The VW and Audi 1.8T motor
There’s power to be had, but not unless you plan on spending a small fortune, and even after that, you’re still kinda slow…
Underrated : Acura Integra Type R
One of the nastiest cars to ever come out of Honda Co. A quick and nimble (very) car that revs to the sky and handles amazingly, with one of the most perfect suspension to power setups for any FF car, actually one of the best setups in any car period.
Overrated : The newer Monte Carlo SS
What a freakin’ disgrace to the name Monte Carlo. First they come out with an FWD heavy ass underpowered version of the car. Then they offered it in “SS” form, with a ooo* NA 3800!!! Wow, how could you badge a 3500lbs car with hardly 200HP an SS!!! At least recently, they shoved the Supercharged motor in there, but wow…
Like the Malibu, and Impala… the Monte Carlo name is just getting slapped on any run of the mill ho-hum vehicle. At least Dodge offers their new line of “returned name” cars with a very respectable V8, oh, and did I forget to mention RWD?
Underrated : VW Golf R32
In a world where more power and faster = gooder, the VW R32 is a severely underpowered beast when compared to it’s competitors like the EVO and STi. But when you sit inside one, and actually drive one… you’ll find that it may not be as fast or handle as well, but it does just fine the way it is. The NA power is obviously quite different from a Turbo, with no lag and plenty of torque throughout the powerband. The interior is top notch. Perfect finish, very pleasing to the eye and touch! The seats are also very supportive and feel (and probably are) VERY expensive. The stopping power is there besides the heavy curb weight (~3400) due to it’s massive brakes. And the best yet : it cruises comfortably anywhere…
Despite falling short on some performance numbers, the R32 is a wonderful smaller car with plenty more to offer than JUST performance. That and its resale value is rediculous…
