Awesome
wow, looking real good.
+1 for burnouts!
So howd it go at Dorschel?
Dan
Unfortunately, we couldn’t unlock the ECM. I got sick of screwing with it and got this from Innovative Tuning.
Also have one of these on the way:
nice, and now you’ll be able to get some more power also
Bum deal. But, this was proabably the end game anyway. Just sucks when you HAVE to drop that sorta coin out of the blue. oh well.
Dan
Is there a plug and play harness, or do you have to make your own? +1 for Vipec awesomeness.
They make a plug-n-play for the 350z so I could have probably gotten them to make one that would have worked for the Titan harness. But If I’m spending the time and money on V88 I’m going to take the time to make a nice harness for the car. So I’m making my own.
Dan, I was planning on doing these this coming off season. It was completely planned, just as you said, sucks having to drop the coin early.
Pit lane speed limiter here we come! hahaha
Besides the racepak video interface looks soooo damn cool.
that is flipping awesome
Started working on the wiring today…
Old wiring harness. Don’t mind the optima just thrown in there, I had to power up a few systems.
After I pulled the old harness I set about cutting out all the essential connectors with 6-12" leads to create the new harness out of. Coolant/fuel lines are still an absolute mess (looks wise). I’m definitely going to have to go to a combination of dry breaks and AN- lines this coming off season. As well as hopefully a better intake setup.
Cut the old firewall grommet out of one of my spare harnesses to reuse with the ViPEC harnesses.
Have everything labeled so it coincides with my chart (which is taped on the wall behind where this photo is taken in my trailer). Tomorrow I’ll start running leads, deciding on sleeving for the harness, etc. Going out of town for the weekend so I won’t finish it up till early next week.
Ugh sucks but it has to be done. to good work and i can’t wait to see this thing wail.
Updates?? Its been 21 days…
I want to see this thing sideways.
I was in Atlantic City/Avalon/Philly for 14 days, hoping to finish one of two new harnesses today.
Also was waiting on some new stuff to show up due to a mix up with shipping with the people I got the Racepak from.
Ah cool. Did you get all the racepak sensors too, or just the 4 generic input module for now? I believe the logger alone only does tach.
Just wondering as I have been looking at these and others similar. Im SOOOO fn tired of one wire gauge senders.
Dan
I just got the display, not the logger (as much as I regret the purchase I just couldn’t afford the extra coin right now). I figure I’ll put it in one of my street cars next summer and upgrade to the logger unit.
In the mean time I got the ViPEC EFI Module which allows me to display:
EFI Engine Rpm
EFI MAP Press
Barometer
EFI TPS
Inj Duty Cycle
Inj Pulse W
EFI H2O Temp
EFI Intake Temp
EFI Voltage
Wheel Speed
Inj Timing
Ing Timing
E1-Knock
Custom 1
Custom 2
Custom 3
Custom 4
The four customs are completely user definable within the racepak software. It just plugs in with a single V-Net cable from the Vipec module to the dashboard, and the ViPEC to the EFI module is a single CANBUS cable. Super convenient!
When I add the logger I plan on adding some fun stuff like steering wheel angle, brake/throttle, and a few other little bits.
The Vipec has decent logging capabilities. The software may not be as user friendly for analyzing runs, but the data can be there.
Yeah, but I’d never use it for data analysis at the track. Checking on the engine? Sure. But when compared to the Racepak software I’d spend HOURS trying to get the same results.
Useful, sure, but ViPEC is not the correct tool for that job.
Wiring will be completely done tomorrow. Waiting on a subharness from Nissan for their knock sensors, and the ViPEC to Racepak EFI module. Everything else is pretty much done.
(yes, I have an aftermarket steering wheel sitting here, no I haven’t installed it, yes I will before I drive the car)
Worked on installing the Racepak IQ3 tonight, need to finish the bracket tomorrow. Tuning soon…
