Yeah, cams should make a world of difference.
That sounds amazing
We’ve seen Mike burn tires, but with a 50-75% torque increase over his old setup, this thing is gonna lay some serious smoke. It looks like he’ll be able to light the tires up at pretty much any RPM now. The throttle response with the “big” v8 is nuts. I’m jealous.
Great job sticking with the swap Mike. I know it wasn’t easy and builds this involved always throw a few curveballs at you. Now that it’s just about finished I’d say it was well worth it and I can’t wait to see it on track.
Thanks Mike Hopefully we get to run it in Sunday SUNDAY SUNDAY!
I have a dual pass 3" core radiator on the way.
God, the sound when you come off the limiter… WOW
ILISM
this.
many hots
So yeah, that cooling problem, that’s taken care of. The guy who did my bell housing, ebrake brackets, and some small other stuff for me build this radiator and fan setup for me. It’s overkill and I love it. Sitting in my driveway with NO airflow and all the bodywork on it took 20 minutes for it to even get near overheating with the fans disabled.
Old cooling setup:
New cooling setup:
I had to make a new oil line and relocate the oil filter block as it used to be between the radiator and the engine. I swear the fans flow more than some turbos hahaha. I was going to go test it at CSCS this morning, but I was so low on sleep, combined with the rain, having to finish a few things on the car, etc. I ended up getting half way down the thruway and turning around and going home and to bed. Car gets dropped in the AM to get the cage finished, and should be driving it at ClubLoose’s Hot Moves next Saturday.
Oh and drove the car for the first time the other day, wasn’t in it maybe more than a minute before I dropped the hammer in 1st and started doing a burnout
Nice Rad. looks good in there, looks like it fits good with the fans. It is wasn’t 1:xx AM when we finished it I would have offered to mount the fans. Hope it works good for you. Cory
Thanks again Cory. I didn’t get home till almost 4! I had to remake an oil line and change another fitting and relocate the filter block so mounting the fans would’ve probably had us both fall asleep!
Would have loved to see it this weekend, but I’m sure we’ll see it soon enough
the radiator looks serious business… glad to see you have this thing up and running, about time!
shit yeah! cant wait to see some vids of u murdering it on the track full sideways
Was the first time driving it really, it rev’s out incredibly fast, burns the tires off in 3rd if I let it. I was shifting on the 2nd of my sequential shift lights just because I was not used to it. (500rpm early or so)
Taking the car to Englishtown Saturday for some drifting with ClubLoose.
always great to have a high quality cooling setup, its just good insurance
very cool man, that thing has got to rip
Can’t wait to see how it drifts!
I went down to Englishtown over the weekend for ClubLoose’s Hot Moves Event. Speaking from last year… Hot Moves is not a good event for me, it’s A. hot, and B. I break things. Last year I folded my rear suspension over in the first 6 laps in a fast sweeper and forgot my spares ending my day. This year… I was on track for even less time…
Arrived at the track early, ready to shake the car down and have fun. Still had some work to do when I showed up (reinstall seats, install new 6pt harnesses, and a pressure sensor), got that taken care of and went through tech inspection without a problem. Then the car wouldn’t start… got a jump, and noticed the voltage was low when at WOT. Tightened the belt up, no worries. Unfortunately a radiator fan died, ok, running a bit hot, not a problem I’ll just limit my runs. Except then once the car got heated up it started misfiring. We later traced this down to my crank trigger wheel being a bit on the thin side, so when the sensor heated up the resistance changed just enough where it no longer read the field accurately and caused triggering errors to show RPM changing from 2300rpm-0-3400rpm-16000rpm… needless to say it stopped running when that happened. So I started the car back up, and tossed it in the trailer, effectively ending my day. Which was probably for the best as it is NEARLY undriveable without power steering the way I have it set up. My shoulder was injured earlier this year and I’m still hurting from driving the car a handful of laps this weekend. I’m going to install a custom PS setup in it this week after I add some fittings to a new rack/make a bracket to put the pump where the AC compressor was.
Here’s a photo and a short video of 2 corners…

That being said, the car will easily burn the tires in 4th while sideways. I didn’t even need to put a ton of effort in to get it to do that. 3rd gear is a ton of fun!
Headed to ClubLoose’s Freedom Moves the 11/12th so I’ll hopefully have more video then.
Damn that looks SUPER easy to slide
Did a proof of concept on a set of rotas, Lamborghini Ithaca Verde green + glow in the dark powder. It’s a bit spotty, but for a first effort not bad. We’re trying to get the powder (sand) in the clear to more of a paste so doesn’t look quite as grainy end product. But for now I’m happy with it. I charged this stuff for 5 minutes the other night and it was glowing for over an hour and a half. The manufacturer says with a full charge (couple hours) it’ll be glowing visible to the eye for 24 hours+. It’s also easily visible in daylight if you’ve charged it even a tiny bit. (You can see the center of the wheel glowing in the “lit” photo.
Going to be drifting Saturday night at Englishtown, so they should look pretty damn cool rolling with tire smoke.
(10 minute charge with a household lamp in this photo).
That’s awesome
