MPD47's On-Going Drifting Thread: Stories, Pics & Vids

Hey I have a spare set of el cheapo nexan 3000 tires in that size if you want them on the cheap. have to mail some stuff out I promised to a few board members like 8129749 weeks ago anyhow LOL. You need to teach me how to drive someday :frowning:

Definitely interested! I know tons of guys than run Nexen’s. I’ll shoot you a message

Teaching is the easy part!

convertible drift cars are awesome

In car video of me following Vosko. Got on the throttle a BIT early in the final corner while at full lock forcing a spin.

fucking awsome vid turck

vids look fantastic, wow

Tires were shot, following Vosko and Miro for the close paddock entrance. This is how real men enter Turn 1. Despite Vosko losing his drift it’s still very impressive.

sasha is getting 316whp out of a NA VQ with very minor mods… i recommend going that route for an extra 70whp or so rather than wasting time with big motor projects.

minimize downtime, maximize slide time…

are you going to trailer and leave this in Cali for the winter and then fly out for all the drift days in dec, jan, feb?

That video was really fun to watch

Correct me if I’m wrong isn’t he using Motec, long tubes, and ported heads?

I’d love to keep the VQ, especially if I could get 320whp+ or so out of it. I’d like to dyno it sometime this week and Innovative and see where it’s at but I haven’t called Mike yet. :picard:

Cali? That’d be AWESOME wouldn’t it?

gonna have to watch the vids when i get home…vosko has been around for a while though can’t wait to check it out

So I ran in the Drift Mania (DMCC) Drivers Search on Saturday in Toronto. Like my 8th time being behind the wheel at a drift event and 1st competition. I had Cassie (silver) spotting for me and dmoffitt crewing for me which was nice as it allowed me to concentrate on driving and bark out the occasional order followed by a meager “pleaseeeeeee ;)”. They both did great and a huge thanks to them for watching my back Saturday. Right out of the gate I was consistent, just picking up speed, trying a few different lines, etc. Did 4 runs in first practice with nearly perfect consistency and just started concentrating on more speed, and getting closer to the clipping zone (rear bumper entry) and points (front bumper on Turns 1 and 2). Second practice session I started swapping up the lines and got a bit aggressive with entries which caused a pair of spins and a couple moments of massive understeer. That’s why it’s practice  We then went to qualifying and I put down a run which we all thought was good enough for 1st place. Sadly I was beaten in their third and final runs of the qualifying session. Oh well, not bad for my 1st competition.

It was a great weekend! Silver and I were standing on the judging platform and the judges were like “Hey, your friend is really good!”

This was technically the first official drift event I’ve been to. As Mike said I was spotting for him, which meant I was trying to get the best view of the clipping zone/points so I could relay back how close he was getting to them. Pit crew pass let me into better areas than spectators were allowed, so I got some pretty cool viewing positions.

Mike was mad consistent, and everytime he’d come out I would hear people comment about how well he was doing. Every so often another competitor would put down a run that was as good as Mike, but they were never consistently that good. Luck definitely played a key part considering how short the course was.

It was awesome hearing the judges comments. They figured out that I was a friend of Mikes and kept making comments to me about how solid he looked, and how he was obviously better than the other guys in his class. Even though Mike took 3rd, he was by far the better driver. As I said before, he was consistently good… the other two guys just had lucky runs their last time out.

Saw some fun crashes, and really enjoyed watching the pro runs on Sunday. Definitely not going to be my last drift event. Hopefully Mike lets me crew for him again

Awesome to hear Mike! Good job, I’ll have to check out some of the video’s in this thread when I’m not at work.

Thanks  Cassie definitely will be asking you to come back to help. As I said I’m hoping to run the full DMCC Pro schedule next year (5 rounds). Just have a few safety and car setup issues to finish up.

Here is a vid from Kenny Cano from ClubLoose Hot Moves, has a great onboard shot looking at me at the beginning.

Had a fantastic time, and holy fuck Mike, when the hell did you learn to drive like that?!

Wow. Impressive.

Sucks you missed out of first spot.

Awesome
