I have a 1990, and i have a muffler on it. no brand name or anything just a round one(about 3 inch outlet).
its been great but all of a sudden it sounds like its draging on the ground, or i have a pop can stuck between the tire and the ground (which i dont, i checked) all the welds are tight and there is not a lot of play in the muffler, but its driving me nuts. What is it?
also when its not doing that its making a weird rubbing noise yet its not actually touching any of the body? help!
If it is a rattling sound you are hearing and you just have a muffler on your stock exaust, try checking your heat shields to see if any of them are loose, from what I have heard they will vibrate more between lower rpm 2000 ish. If it’s loose just rip it off, problem fixed.
alright ill take a look but it seems like its coming from the very back, but we will find out.
Just to clarify, you know the sound a pop can makes when you boot it down the street? Sounds like that but alot louder, and only at slower speeds, at medium to high speeds 60+ it just makes a small rattle sound.
Dont know if this will help or not. But on my accord, when the aftermarket cat back muffler was put on, the tubing sat higher than stock. So near the rear wheels where there is a cross member, it was touching. The guys ended up stuffing 2 pieces of the rubber mounting things for mufflers between them to fix it.
Before the fix it sounded like the muffler had broken off and was dragging on the ground.
well i fixed it, when i got home, i jacked up the car and took of the left rear wheel. No sooner then i had taken it off then the backing plate for the rotor fell on the ground, turns out it had rusted threw and was sitting in my wheel, but since i still have factory tear drops on it i couldnt really see it.
