My 1978 Monte Carlo build...

sounds roudy love it

It’s awesome, some of those year montes look bad to me when not done right, this car looks good

I think it’s the ugliest style, but that’s what I like about it. lol I always get the “out of all cars to make fast…why this?” lol. My favorite montes are the first generation.

+1 the 1970-72 is such an aweosme car. When I do a first gen GM LSx swap the 70-72 monte carlo is a serious contentender.

I like that white one

also this guy doesnt like to lose…

I actually don’t like the 1st gen montes that much, compared to chevelles and all the other muscle cars.

Isn’t that monte heavier or bigger? Not as big as the later 70’s ones.

The early montes are practically a Chevelle. 78 was the first year they made the monte “small”.

Well she’s finally done, going to the track this weekend. Here’s a quick update.

Got the transmission tunnel and the rest of the interior finished up:

Had to put big block springs in because the front was too low, but here is how she sits now.

Another shot:

Got the new rack aligned:

And got some meth for this weekend:

It has taken about 10 months to do this build…it’s been a long wait, but I hope it pays off this weekend!

Good job and good luck!!!

hell yah dude should be a hell of a ride

I just hope it hooks up. lol I think she’s gunna fly like a bat out of hell or blow the tires off…only one way to find out though. lol

I love how stupid this is. I mean stupid in a good way.

big blocks are testy from the line  but if you can get it to hook it outta be a neck snapper. looks like you did it right. The only thing I care about right now is MPH. You can always tweak away to get it to ET but youll know where shes at when you see the trap. if you go again this year maybe we can meet up there for some big block on big block crime. im going to try for the next test and tune out there after this weekend.

I stay away from test and tune night. I go on Saturdays and Sundays when the real racers are there. lol I’m out of town next weekend. Weekend after maybe? NHRA@Maple Grove next weekend!

Im down for whatever  i just wana go on a day I can make a bunch of runs and not get eliminated in some bracket racing deal. Idk what days are good I never been there but yea maybe we can set sumthin up I wanna see ur beast in person and steal some ideas lol

Im just some schmut who put a big block where it doesn’t belong in the driveway in the snow and rain with basic tools all with no help (that was probably the most frustrating part…sometimes you just need that extra hand for something). Fingers are crossed it doesn’t blow up. LOL I’ve been trying to get pointers but haven’t gotten much so I’m just winging it. lol

But if I were you I would go on Sundays. And just go to the test and tune lane one racing actually starts.

sounds good man. maybe we can get together before the year is up. im guna pm * a good place for info…

Finally got down to the track. And all went well…well as good as I hoped. lol First pass I rolled into the throttle and then laid into it and boy does she go. LOL Kept ripping through the gears and first pass was a 10.54@124…I felt confident in how it was handling. So next pass I went full tilt off the tranny brake and the car instantly went into tire shake and boy was that a little violent but she was going strait, so I stayed in her! And once I got into 2nd it finally started to hook and off I went. 10.57@124 are you freakin kidding me. How the hell did my mosey off the line get the same time as my full tilt launch. I think I lost a lot of time in the tire shake. Trimming the springs and putting 90/10 shocks in the front. Hopefully I’ll get them tires up higher next time.

Here’s a video. Excuse the long burn out, and first I didn’t think I was gettin rubber, then I wanted to make sure they were really hot. lol
