My 4kq project-updated 12/2/09-hauled off to junkyard

Everything is SOLD. Time for me to start buying some parts…

EDIT: What tranny is that? Looks like a 01E?

looks good richard… i think i seen a mouse in your garage last time i was over :teehee:

hahah priceless

Yupper, tranny out of the 200. I should have called you sooner as I really wanted/needed that dp.

So today I saw the car get hauled off to the junkyard. Started out as a car and the results speak for themselves

Throwing scrap in the back of the car was awesome fun as it resulted in a thud, like throwing a large rock in water as there was about a foot of rain water in the rear floor area

A small suprise in the trunk, the spare tire was floating in the well, if I could have I would have grabbed a pic of it as it was comical

I have no idea how this happened but it made moving it a chore

Wheel didn’t want to cooperate

And there it is out front waiting for it’s final destination-K&R salvage. I managed to get about 5 strut inserts into the frame rails, you can see one of the tops popping out here

And just for good measure, here is another car that is most likely going to meet the same fate

So all in all a productive day, one less car in the yard. The best thing about it was when I jacked the front subframe up to pull it out with my truck it sounded like niagara falls as all the water started to run out of the car/trunk

I prolly would have bought that shell off you, if you hadn’t beat the piss out of it, and fucked it all up. I am a type44 guy at heart…

You’re just straight up gay. fggt.

what the hell happened?

Well, there is most likely going to be a second one that you can buy if you want. Just have to see if it’s going to be worth fixing it up and driving it or if it is going to get stripped for the engine and tranny. Honestly Matt, the shell I junked was in shitty shape, even before I beat the shit out of it.

Sounds like you got some of that agression out, did you use George to tow that thing to the junkyard? LOL

x…

Got something in the mail today, the downpipe I’ve been waiting on

Threw it in the car and got some new hardware as the old stuff was shot

Went to put the cat in between the dp and the exhaust and the converter is too long. So I pirated the test pipe off the other turbo 4000 in my garage and that is also too long.

So this is what I have now, the picture sucks but you can see the end of the downpipe to the left there and the exhaust system to the right. Inbetween them is a 10.5" gap

So now I need to have a 10.5" section of pipe made with a flange on each end, joy.

This downpipe though is a great fit and will get me up and running until I decide to go with a big dp.

this car looks in great shape^ when/why did you pick this up? Is it auto or something ghey?

The old quattros never came in auto, unless it was the V8 quattro, and even like 10 of those sneaked over from the mother land with a wide first gear 01E 5sp. Super rare. I had a v8 quattro with an auto for a while, one of the best car i’ve owned.

No, it’s a 5speed, exact same car as the donor I just got rid off. Got it in Rochester and the reason why the person sold it is the reference pin in the flywheel sheered off so it died. I went out there looking at a few other cars and looked at this on a whim and bought it. The car is actually Whalens and he’s back and fourth as to what to do with it. We got it running, drove it around on my dealer plate and we were floored by how strong it runs. We suspect it is chipped and has a WG spring. We are going to see if it needs all new balljoints, tie rods, bushings, etc etc before we decided to either drop the tranny and put a new clutch/TOB/flywheel re-surfacing and drive it or use it as a donor car. I’d love to see it used as a daily as they are really comfy cars to drive, and they are HUGE inside.

There were 75 came through in 1991 with the 5speed 3.6 V8. Saw a black one at Athol Motor car that was CLEAN, dont know if it’s still around or not.

the old 3.6, 3.7 and early 4.2 audi v8s were huge abortions… they all deserve to die.

Not really. I had zero issues with mine, and would take another one in a heart beat.

everyone at both dealers i worked at hated doing anything on them… the 15foot long timing belt that ran around all the spring loaded nonsense and half a dozen rollers and you had to tear the backs of both heads off and use a bunch of special tools to lock the cams. i was the newbie that got to “learn” about the real audi’s when i started. along with all the 80’s 90’s 200’s, V8’s front track A8’s with 3.7’s and all sorts of other fun cars. hell, early B5’s were still under warranty when i started, not that i’ve been doing it forever. V8’s didn’t have anything for brake size either, common place to have them come in with warped rotors from grandma/grandpa dragging them by two pedaling them.

i’ll have to wander down to eden and come see the the project lab you two have.

The UFO brakes kicked ass.

I could not believe how well they hauled that 200 down from triple digit speeds on the 90 heading back from MA. I grabbed those off the car before it was towed away.

You should swing by on your way home, if you go the back way it’s not too bad to get to from your starting point.

Project is now out of my life for good. After scratching my dick as to why it won’t run I gave up officially and posted it for sale as is on an old Audi site. I HATE this fucking thing, I get ill everytime I go in the garage and see it, I get even more ill when I think of all the time wasted on this thing. So, it will be heading off to the land of deep dish pizzas. Fuck working on anything that is not necessary. FUCK building cars, buy something that is done and let some other fucker take the huge loss on it. I almost wish that nobody wanted it so I could have taken a sledge hammer to this one and let out some frustrations. Between this project and the one in the next bay my garage is looking like an abortion clinic.
