my 71 honda cb350 bobber build......(finished pics pg 7)

i think we are on different pages here don. I dont like the way that bike looks at all.

i think that paint design on the tank was influenced by the beverage on the milk crate.
love the bars jonny

I know its not the same but still.

well, just brought this badboy home. 74 honda cb450 that actually runs. Was a little pricey at 400bucs but this bike is solid and comes with harley slip on pipes.

The frame on this is straight and level as well in comparison to the cb350 which has the goofy offset. well, anyway not sure what im going to do with the cb350 now. Ill probably cut and chop this cb450 the same way i did the cb350. kinda a shame too considering what great shape its in.

nice…looks pretty clean…imma goin to look at the 350 imma buy in an hour, ill post picks after i do

And for the record, yes this was sideways in the back of a rodeo.

is it a cb450 twin? or a cb450 four?

twin, theres only 2 exhaust ports.

nice pickup. still want the bobber rather than a cafe huh? lol.

I say make both bikes, but since the 450 runs do that one first while looking for a nice cheap motor for the 350 and then you will have 2 bikes for fairly cheap, and can go ridin around with a friend lol. Oh, and I still have that petcock if you need it/want it.

and, on that site forums.sohc4.net…a member there by the handle ProTeal55 built this super awesome looking cafe cb450. just throwing it out there lol. Mainly cause its his own custom exhaust he whipped up I thought you might enjoy.

that looks great and all, and i do like it alot. I was actually gunna build an exhaust exactly like that one for the bobber. I will build a cafe bike after im done with the bobber. Its way too fun and cheap to build these things. Right now im having issues getting the 450 runnin. I took apart the carbs and cleaned them out. One carb looked good and the other had some slight clogging. Im not sure if its the cold thats making this bike nearly impossible to start or if i just suck.lol Anyway, i messed up gapping the points and only have spark in one cylinder so im gunna readjust that when i get a free minute and see if i have better luck getting it to start.

that cafe is dope.

this will sound totally nuts…but find the breather hose associated with the carbs, set the choke on, and BLOW AIR into the breather hose like a straw…then try to start it. LOL it really works…I do this on every cold start and it never fails (I went through similar problems and received this advise on Sohc4.net

the air boxes are off and i already had the carbs off and the only hoses are the bowl overflow drains and fuel feeds. I dont think there is a breather hose for the carbs unless your talking about a crankcase breather hose of some sort.

believe it or not, having the air boxes and filters off is probably causing it to be unnecessarily harder to start because of a lean condition. the jets are pretty specifically sized for the amount of air coming in, and simply putting the air boxes back in might get you running. If not, there are a few other small maintenance items you can check/take care of like the valve clearances and such

yea, this actually crossed my mind. After i adjust the points i will throw the filters back on and see if that helps any.

woohoo, got her running today. This is the second time in my life that i trusted spark plugs that were “new looking” they even sparked outta the cylinder. oh well, new plugs and a points adjustment and the bitch fired right up. Sounds pretty good too for only a 450cc.

Now i can begin chopping/cutting/welding.

any updates?

with the great weather earlier this week I got soo much done on mine lol. I was tempted to toss it together and ride it on tuesday but decided against it haha

I started chopping it a couple nights ago. Im not in a hurry to rush out to the garage when its cold outside.lol

i have maybe 15-20hrs left in it till its done. I will try to get picks of the new chop. I have a universal hardtail kit here that ill be using to convert it to hardtail. I need to order up some chain unless you know of any extra kicking around somewhere?

Looks Like there is plenty of room there for a turbo.

Then maybe it will be more Café than Cliché

well, here is my current progress on the current frame. I am deciding how long i want the wheels base ad how low i want the bike. so far its coming along pretty well. Ive only got a few hours into it sofar.
