So, as a few of you know, i was in an accident yesterday with my cbr600rr. i was heading south on union yesterday at noon, and a woman heading north made a left about 20 feet in front of me onto george urban blvd. she said she didnt see me (obviously), and when she did, she slammed on the brakes right in the middle of my lane. i swerved as hard as i could to the right to avoid her, in the process, i lowsided. his probably happened at about 45mph or so at noon.
i went to the hospital, no broken bones, just bruised up pretty badly. my head smacked the ground face first, and the right side of my body is pretty banged up. the police and multiple witnesses said that the accident was all the other driver’s fault, and the other driver even admitted fault.
my bike is actually in good shape even though it slid for like 300 feet. the right mirror is scraped, the right frame slider is ground way down, and there is a scrape on the tail fairing. also, the right handlebar and brake lever is scraped pretty good. but, when we picked the bike up, it was leaking oil and gas, so im not sure what is going to happen.
i can honestly say i wouldnt be here were it not for:
ride with pride safety course - they taught us how to swerve hard to avoid an accident. i have practiced it so many times, and i did it instinctively, which enabled me to avoid hitting the other car.
my shoei helmet, textile jacket, riding gloves, and steel toed over the ankle boots. the way my head hit the ground, i doubt i would be here right now.
thanks especially to Will and Ryan for the support yesterday. i was pretty freaked out…
be safe guys… gear up, because you never know what other drivers will do…
Seriously. I recommend you check out an 06 black 636 in black. (you wont regret it).
Glad you’re ok buddy.
This is precisely why everybody needs to get to an empty parking lot EVERYTIME they go out. That way they practice this shit on a regular basis. 0-60-0, swerves, and slow maneuvers. IT WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE!

ryans right though… stay away from black, you dont like to keep things clean :-p… the red I had always looked really clean though, as does the blue, and silver.
I looked alot… i would stay away from custom paint schemes, they typically mean a wreck worth painting over. lol. and I SAW A LOT of familiar bikes that have been wrecked badly on craigslist (and they looked damn good in the pics)
frame sliders really do their job. I’ve had a couple bikes that were downed before me and frame sliders ground way down, but really saved the damn thing
maybe there will be a new bike in my future… i really like the new flat black cbr600s. i also do like the 636s that were posted…
but, this is all pending how i feel after the dust settles. i know this whole ordeal put my wife through a lot. i have to really give this some thought.
