Yeah I am going to do a little work tonight and get the subframe back in and the suspension stuff all together 100% so I just need to slap on the new rotors when they show up. Craig (half-breed) is doing me a huge favor and doing some fab work while I am going to Florida for a few days. I am really stale on wanting to wrench on this thing so seeing some progress that I didn;t slave on will be really nice. Car will be ready to run again next week it looks like. I think I will have it done aside from tune by the first week of April. I am still going to try to get it ready for opening day of NYIRP April 18th but it is not looking all that good hahaha. If I can just enjoy it this summer I would be stoked.
this thing needs to be done by great lakes gtg. i demand it.
I worked on it some tonight but really all I did was put the subframe in and out like 30 times. I am really nervous about how much I had to cut into this to make it even close to fitting.
On a positive note the spark plugs and wires went on just fine today hahaha.
damn you and your spark plugs wires that fit!
speaking of spark plug wires!.. do you have one of mine pat?
yup on my car still!!! teehee. i’m so lazy.

You had to cut the subframe?
i’m guessing for headers?
not sure if this is a great idea…
mine fit perfect and don’t know what u got going on there?
It was to fit the headers.
Cougarspeed actually called Hindson and they told him specifically to notch the sub frame. We said GTFO but it literally is the only way it would work short of notching the headers themselves.
We looked it over and the part you notch is probably the least important structure of the cross member. But either way I think he may cut them again and just weld new metal on to preserve the structure.
Metal is metal after all.
metal is metal? Then why not just slap some soda cans in there? lol, sorry just being a dick
but seriously, if too much is cut-off then I would think some re-enforcement in different spots would be necessary. I am sure it’s being taken into consideration already.

i think i know where…that area is pretty beefy and don’t think it should compromise the structure
and you also stated you were welding more material around the cut area…i’m sure it will remain strong…
What’s the worse case scenario?
It breaks
talk to ya guys soon…be in Florida till april…call ya when i get back Andy.

i forgot to mention:
You got through to BRIAN HINSON?
thought that was literally impossible lol
Should have just put another rotary in it like they came from the factory, lol :D. But seriously, nice work. I’m partial to the rotary but I guess a swaps ok if you already have one with a 13B.
So, are you keeping this AWD?
God this car sucks.
Also to the people worried about the subframe you must have all forgotten I am an automotive elitist. duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I can handle this POS. But yeah I do not like cutting it but I had to. I will weld in new metal and structurally it will be good still.
Just got back from florida. I am not feeling inspired to work on the car and I am considering buying another summer car It will get finished sometime this season though I would guess.
how’s the benz?
what the hell is wrong with you!
FUCKING AMAZING!
TONS!

here is an interesting ls1 swapped FD with an STS turbo setup to get you motivated…

That fucker must sound hairy
Won’t be doing much work on mine till the semester is over. I was letting myself get way too backed up.
It makes me sad that my vette isn’t drivable.
UGH lol
