My Build Thread LS1/FD Its Fast!

No problem, I was at Pats shop and he has a parts washer. It is fun to play with!

Went pro, I started to upload new pics into flikr and was just like ef it, $25 is not really worth my time I got shit to do.

This silver looks amazing in person.

i just wanted to say that that shaggy dude fucking SUCKS. i thought i was bad when it came to arguing with mods over shit  good fucking god.

carry on with zee build, lol

Thanks man yeah that was a true test of my patience. I have some stuff back from powder already and put in about 4hrs worth of work last night. I am hoping I MIGHT be able to spray the undercoat this week sometime and get working toward a roller once again. A little behind schedule(as these things tend to go). I am amazed at how the subframes came out. Spam doesnt know this yet but first fucking thing yesterday I had to move the rear subframe and it slipped and fell out of my hands…not a scratch. this stuff seems really durable.

It is taking me a lot of extra time and I hope some of you can appreciate the stuff here and amount of detail I am going into…having all of my hinges powdered as well right now. Rear end is geared and about to get a coat of POR-15 as well as the fuel tank. I am really hoping by this weekend to be putting the some stuff back in it but I am not sure I will have all of the parts here that I need. A build like this logistically is really intense. Lotssss of stuff going on. Hopefully we can get started on the turbo kit soon enough. :frowning:

make sure youre doing atleast 2 coats of por15 on that stuff.

Thanks for the tip. I really haven’t had time to wrench at all the last week. FML. I need to get out there. Maybe tonight.

Hmm that motor looks good, I like the color scheme!

Thanks man!

Anyhow…

My new clutch…BALLIN! Well, looks like I am committed to 6-sp. I am going to grab another spare once funds allow, build it, and have it faceplated. For anyone not familiar that is a dual 8.5" slipper style setup. The screws on the pressure plate dial in/out desired slip to control launch. This really helps getting out of the hole on a high hp boosted car.

Looks like progress. I always forget to check this thread at home and I cant see your pics at work (FU websense).

Dan

Some holdups, some progress, lot o fun!

that is a pretty cool clutch, very interesting

Yeah not many people run that type of setup for various reasons. I will be sure to report how I feel about it once I get some time with it. They have a single 10" iron unit that is decently affordable for anyone not looking to go balls out but wanting a slipper style clutch.

So I went out to clean up the garage before I get started on installing 220/gas and all new power out there tomorrow for the new compressor/welder. Figured I would snag a few pics of some stuff.

100% ready for paint. Just took one pic for ya. The wheel wells and underbody are all so clean you could eat off of it. 

Front/Rear subframes, Trans brace, 8.8” mount back from powder. Sorry I didn’t snag pics before I stacked it all together like this.

Wheel bearings, studs, caliper rebuild kits

New fuel rails

Adj alt bracket(warning might be on wrong just tossed it on lol)

Undercoat I am using and the gun with it.

New compressor 

Everything came in to make the turbo kit, doing everything in stainless, didn’t feel like unpacking it all for a pic srry.

Some info on this style clutch as not many people use them. The dials allow you to adjust pressure that allows the clutch to slip upon launch. You adjust it until you get your ideal launch point etc etc thus no more instant shock from a clutch dump. you do this through a small window on the bell housing while changing the tires for track duty typically. Adj can be made pretty quick. Then before you head home or not its up to you you can adjust it all the way back to full lockup again and it works just like a normal dual 8.5" iron clutch would. The point is to have a soft non violent launch at the track breaking less parts, having adjustability to dial in traction, and the end result is a way better 60ft typically. Lots of guys typically see in the 1.4 range on these but more importantly their 330’ is killer since the soft launch makes it so there is no big load/unload shock/bog sequence that many manual trans people fight. Anyhow i look forward to trying it out.

looks good drew, your gunna be so happy once that garage is wired up for 220. Some people say there going to do stuff, you just do it.

Holy shit you got a lot done. I wish I had your time… I pulled my headers off, that’s about it.

Amen.

 nice progress.

Thanks man, i’ve never been much for dreaming.

My time management skills are numbah one!!! lol But yeah I deff have some available time and am NOT about wasting it.

Word, see you soon man!

I need to get my a$$ in gear. I always allow stupid things like new cars to get in my way. Hopefully my car will be done pretty soon, I need to take new pictures.

Looking good. Which fuel rails are those?
