seriously guys, i rode in his car on the maden voyage when it ran freakin beautiful, and everything was just fine.
he just stayed away from open loop because he didnt calibrate his wideband to the sct software he is running, therfore he wouldnt know what his a/f was doing at wot.
and for the maf placement, a guy down in north carolina that is regared as the best current focus tuner, ALWAYS uses a blow through maf, that way iat’s can be watched more closely.
i think it is really a simple plug issue, or oil still somewhere in the system…
well conidering the car needs to be tuned anyways, the pressure of the air going thru the maf mattrs little, as long as it always reads constant, you can take care of the rest in the tuning software
there are lots of cars that run the maf after the turbo, and in fact its probably one of the biggest debates you can get into. unless you can describe to me why having the maf after the turbo would cause a datalog glitch that causes the RPM reading to go off the chart, i highly doubt this is the problem
and there is no “excess heat” in the pipe either, i know this because theres an IAT sensor in the maf, and its one of the statistics that available on the datalog
even at full boost, the air going thru the maf is ambiant air temp, or LOWER (i mentioned this finding in one of the previous threads)
<<<miniSRT4…just opened his throttle body and there is still a substantial amount of “residue” in the intake plenum…does anyone think that something could be clogged in there and causing these issues???
only way i can think of doing it without introducing a foreign object (like a hanger with a rag on the end) would be to stack the maf right on top of the TB, and then running a thin hose down in thre while the car is running and washing the junk away
maybe a thin brake line on teh end of the throttle body cleaner spray tube ?
but i dont see how some gunk on teh bottom of the intake would cause the car to have load / rpm value spikes …
i got the new maf from 2060, and i called them to ask what the possiblities of it being bad are, and they said they test them all and its highly unlikely. i will be logging the MAF in a little while to see if its working properly. currently taking off the intake manifold to clean it out and clean the IAC valve.
intake is off now…has a good amount of residue in the plenum and runners…idle control valve looks fine, cleaning intake now as soon as we find something to clean it with. starting to think that this prolly isnt the problem, but who knows, but it was really nasty i n there so its good we r cleaning it anyways…god dammit process of elimination fuckin blows :bloated:
its not the o2, and the plugs i checked for spark, and i got nice blue strong spark, i cant think of what the hell it is, Ddrop suggested possibly bad gas, but i feel that is doubtfull. that or something like the ignition module or coilpack. im so frustrated i want to blow this car up burn it to the ground and get something else
hmmm… maybe a vacuume line got blocked or something? I’g go over everything on the top end thats exposed to the intake tract and go thru it with a fine tooth comb (I’m sure you probably already have 6 times though)
edit: I know it’s a long shot… but did ya try swapping out/checking out the throttle body? possibly if oil got up in there, it may of f’d something up… just a random suggestion
