My central AC took a dump so I found a way to stay cool

Don’t let the expression on my face fool you, I didn’t pee in the tub. It felt AMAZING, better then sex. Perhaps an explination is in order so people don’t get the impression I throw on spandex and sit in an ice filled tub.

Me and my buddy decided to do a long ride today as that was when his schedule would allow him. He is training for an Ironman in August in Lousiville KY so he needs to get some bike time in. He rides like a drugged up race horse as it is, but, apparently so too do all the other competitiors in the Ironman so off we went.

The plan was to leave Eden when he got home from work, at 1pm. 1pm. Yes, 1pm.

Left on time and rode to Springville via the back roads-I doubt anyone would know the roads so I’ll spare the boring details. Stopped in Springville, got drinks, and then took 39 to 240S through Riceville all the way to 242 into Elliccottville. I highly reccomend this route if you have a bike, one with a motor, as there is some real nice scenery. Got into Elliccotville, got more liquid, and then headed to Salamanca. At the 50 mile mark I thought about riding into oncoming traffic as my legs were about shot and I was feeling horrible. Popped some caffine, ate, and felt good again. Headed back to Ellicottville and rode back to Springville on 219, got more liquids. Took 39 to 62, 62 home. Seeing the “Welcome to Eden” sign was one of the greatest things ever.

So, Eden to Salamanca to Eden.

When I got home I ate more food then a pregnant elephant.

Nice work in this heat.

I can honestly say I’d rather go shut my nuts in a car door than do that in this heat. But congrats on being in good enough shape to do it without dying.

Nice job.

Side note: Those are the same proportions as if I were to sit in an infant sized bathtub.

wow… impressive… florida is flatttttt… so i cant even begin to appreciate the hills and what not.

sidenote… i think a normal bath would feel better. just saying.

The theory with the ice bath is that your legs are all pumped up with latic acid. Jumping in the ice immediately when you get off the bike stops the growth of the lactic acid. I have to say that my legs really feel good now. After my last 100 mile ride my legs were SHOT, I could barely walk down the stairs a few hours after the ride. You just have to throw yourself in all at once, no gradual imersion as it is cold. Scarlett Johansen and Jessica Alba could have been fucking each other infront of me and I wouldn’t have gotten hard it was that cold while in the tub.

You kinda look like geofffff from the angle lol.

I did an ice bath right after I ran a marathon and it was amazing. Great ride man.

nice work richard.

I drank a lot of beer yesterday.

Impressive though. Are you training for something or just happen to be in crazy good shape?

I just ride to stay in shape and get in training for racing. My buddy is training for an Ironman-FUCK THAT. If I got off my bike after riding 112 miles and was told go run a marathon I’d deck whoever told me to go run 26.2 miles. That or i’d drown swimming 2.4 miles

On a side note my legs feel AMAZING today due to the ice, like I could go out and do another 75 miles if I wanted to

I did my first triathalon last weekend… really looking forward to doing more… i dont have a probelm riding long distances, but after ~ 60 miles its more mental… i just get bored… i need to find a new riding route from home…

Do you ride a p2? or just have the hat?

Training for Ironman or not…that distance in this heat and the hills on that route are impressive:tup:

That refers to some aspect of my cycling team, Peak Power Endurance Coaching. My problem with riding long distances is I HATE, absolutely HATE the thought of eating while I’m exercising so I always suffer. I didn’t eat anything before the ride yesterday except a Snickers Marathon Bar which tasted like SHIT, felt great for the first 42 miles, then started to go downhill from there until I ate some granolla bars. My buddy who does tri’s says that his buddy wants to tape a Wegmans hoagy to his top tube to eat while doing Ironman. I almost puked when I heard that.

thats a solid ride, certainly not flat either

Yes. WEIRD!

i cant eat either… but i do Roctane for rides > 50 milles or any kind of race, and regular GU energy gel for anything else… couple that with some water or accellerade during the ride and endurox afterwards, and im a happy camper

You are nuts. Get something with a motor on it.

nice ride dude. i need to get more into biking, running is getting boring…

You must really hate yourself. LOL

Nice ride, 100 miles, I don’t think I am quite ready for that one.

X…
