My Experience at Autodream

thanks for the update… things like these will be taken into consideration… :?

Ive heard and experienced some pretty scetchy stuff from autodream recently. My buddy received an SR from them recently and it came with oil everywhere in the intake pipe all from shot seals in the turbo. Then I ordered some GTR injectors from them and when they arrived they turned out to be stock 370cc injectors from a CA18det. I also have a GReddy oil pan ordered from them from about 2.5 months ago that has still not arrived, and that they have not bothered to call me about to let me know what is going on. Theres even more but i dont want to destroy their name as i do still think they can do great work, but have just become so busy that they lose that concentration and focus on customer service that made their name.

Hey man, I all can say is sorry.

I got f$cked around By autodream and when i posted it up here everyone was on there side.
Sorry to say but it’s, great to hear someone else got worked too. Maybe people will stop thinking they are gods! read later posts>>>>

I did finaly get the right turbo, but it was not easy too say the least. I was called a lier and a cheat, I was told it was my F&*k Up.

If your to lasy to read my linked(and locked for Sponer bashing). Here is the coles notes version.

Orderd a T28 turbo, asked to send grayhound. Turbo comes 3 days late sent UPS. I go to Calgary 4 dtp. When i am, there i find autodream ask them why they sent it by UPS, and I said the T28 looked good. Nygun(sp) told me he sent a T25. which i not what i bought and payed for. SO 10 phone calls later and finding all corisponding Faxs, i could prove i had requested a T28. 1 week later(nearly 1 month after the orignal phone call) the T28 arrives.

It was the wrost experiance i have ever had buying anything!

Man i am so sorry they f&^k you around. I hope now some poeple will think of these guy differently.

My 2 cents

Hopefully someone from autodream will comment in this thread about these issues. While many of them may be resolved. It would still be nice to see thier side of the story.

SR20FC will be on here in a bit no doubt … I hoep things will be resolved as word of mouth like this even though it is organized and valid can be very destructive to credibility of a business if not taken serious

does it really take that long to defend your position and your name and you PR and your everything in front of die hard nissan fanatic??

its about tie we hear the other side of the story…

it seems there is a trend here… a motorsports shop starts out relatively small and does extremely high quality work… then they get noted for their workmanship and service, and they grow too big to handle the business and hire people who don’t have the same customer care, and workmanship gets shoddy. some people would say the same thing happened to sumaru’s, because from what i remember they used to do excellent work when it was just the 2 guys.

I also ordered a gasket from them and it was 3 days late and it didnt hold worth shit had to change it a week later. plus i had to pay exra shipping for over night and they gave me a false tracking number.

Yep, could not have said it better myself!!!

2 points lol

Well when a shop opens its usually the owners running the place. As time goes on you want to hire people so you don’t have to have your whole life revolve around the shop. But when you don’t own it your never going to work as hard. IMO anyway.

Oh my what a surprise, a customer had a bad experince with a shop. I very sure that for every bad there are 100 good experiences with this shop. If you dont like Autodreams then go to Sumaru…

Lee, im sure that Autodream will do their best to turn you into a satisfied customer.

Yes i think when Ngyuen was doing most of the work it was fairly flawless, now there are more guys there and of course he cant oversee everything. I will still continue to use them and hopefully over time they will learn to operate more proficiently as a large shop and deal with issues that come up in a professionl manner.

It seems that the big problem was with ronnie. Another thing, is as a business grows, there is too much information and duties for a certain people to do. Its too complicated for whoever answers the phone to put in a special order, cause if something goes wrong, you have to track down who did it. It should be sent to one person for every duty. Whether its special orders (person only deals with orders, nobody else) and etc with other jobs. This way when something happens, it can be easily fixed and also less confusion as what the problem was. Because in the end, its all about customer satisfaction.

I know they do really good quality work and alot of people knows that, or else they wouldnt be such a popular business. Just lately since there has been so much business for them, they need to organize their positions better and realize who is doing work and who is just there for a paycheck.

Agreed, but sometimes it is just easier said than done. In theory, all sorts of situation sound good, but when its work time, there are always misc. duties to take care of.

Oh of course, its always easier said by a long shot, but sometimes you have to spend more money to make more money and also happy customers. Example, hire someone to help clean up, or someone they know who isnt exactly mechanically knowledgable but can help with paper work or cleaning up messes (misc duties). That way you dont have to pay them full wage as a mechanic. Also there is the possibilty to hire a human resources consultant and such. Its easier said then done, but sometimes at this stage in a company, they need to spend the extra money to upgrade their business stature, or they will start to lose customers.

But enough of that, I hope AutoDream will react to this thread and the few customer complaints so they can make sure they fix some small things before they turn more extreme. Last thing we want is another shop that takes customers for granted.

i think you guys are on the right path.

I own my own buisness, and it all about customer service. Word of mouth is so powerful and your right some times you have to spend money to make money. the best thing i did was hire a helper.

Autodream did make it right with me. The problem was mostly one guys mess up and not being accountable for it. the Big problem is there really is no one else to deal with on the JDM stuff. Autodream is good at what they do, cars. the people thing is just a bit to much sometimes i guess.

autodream isnt the only shop around! There is a shop in Lethbridge called Mak customs… They do everything from importing to full on engine swaps…you name it they can get it… just something to keep in mind for all those that think autodream is the only option out there

I phoned Autodream and talked with Nguyen for a while today. I got a lot of clarification on the work missing/defects on my car.

Ronnie’s Autobody in Calgary was the shop that did my bodywork - not Autodream - and it was their guy that “lent” my speed sensor out to another customer. Nguyen talked to him and told him how unacceptable something like that was and Ronnie will be buying a new one. I got the number for Ronnie and talked with him as well. This is the first time talking to him since i received my car. He claims not touching anything in my engine bay but once i confronted him about my coolant reservoir and speed sensor, he backed down and became very apologetic. I asked him why my wing wasn’t completed and he claimed he never knew about it until it was too late, which is bs because Marvin went down there before the rear end was complete and showed him the 3-PIECE WING. Once again he became friendly and apologetic. I asked why the price of the bodywork went from $4000.00 to $6500.00. He claims he’d never do a car for $4000.00 and that he ran it by me that it would be $6500.00. BS and that i agreed to it. Once again BS because when I went to pay for the car, both Nguyen and I were stunned at the price, especially for incomplete work. I asked him what will be done about everything here and he said he’d pay for the missing parts and finish and repair what is needed.

Nguyen mentioned that Autodream doesn’t do major bodywork, so that it was sent out to get the work done, and they probably won’t be ordering body kits anymore as it isn’t cost or time efficient (lots of $$ for shipping). Autodream bought the parts needed for my car and installed my suspension, the rest was up to Ronnie’s Auto. One of the last things that Ronnie admitted to me was that he was told by his boss to “just get the car out of there”.

I appreciated the phone call from Nguyen and the time he took to explain things, as it wasn’t a short call. He said that he’ll see to it that I become a satisfied customer, that means a lot to me. This is the type of communication that I like. I’ll keep you guys updated.

That is great news.

I knew from the start that it was going to end up on Ronnie’s plate, as previous experience has tought me that outsourcing leads to … lower quality work, and that it was obvious that this all happened and is the responsability of the bodyshop.

It is good that Nguyen is ready to help you out. I’m sure things will be set right for you, hopefully sooner than later.

Thats very good news, I hope that gives you some relief and satisfaction. Even though its winter now, I hope to see your car ready to go next year! Keep us updated for sure.
