My gauge pod is finally done, check it out.

Well I made a thread a while ago when I started this project. Here’s what I started with…

Wood, glue and bondo used on the first one I made

That piece finished

The hot and cold weather kept cracking the bondo, then the paint so I called my buddy Tim that has made other custom gauges and he printed me out this…

It took a lot of work sanding and filling in with ABS and he chemically bonded it again using abs plastics. this is a 100% abs so it’ll definitely hold up for a long time. Here’s a picture after majority of the sanding

Today I finished sanding, painted it with flat black Duplicolor sandable primer and fixed/filled any spot that were not up to my standards, I needed it perfect. Here’s the finished product.I do sitll need to paint the vents gloss black, I think it’ll look good with different black colors clashing. I’ll add pictures of it installed once my interior is back together.

Mind you I’ll have the other switch as well

Of course I also had to paint my headlights flat black while the car is sitting. Also restored the lenses and re-cleared them.

Opinions and comments aloud, good or bad. Me and another friend on Evom are thinking about having these mass produced. IMO the switch panel needs to lay back slightly more and the edges rounded off. Any other recommendations?
.

Homemade, custom DIY…I like it. Nice work.

Looks good

Cool, how’s the viewing angle? Looks like it might have been rough the first time around?

definitely a much much better viewing angle this time around.

Looks much better than the first time around. Legit.

2nd run looks 100x better than the first. Nice work.

all that nice work and you use a radio shack switch? cmon

Nice!

Thanks guise  I put it up on Evom and now have a mailbox full of people wanting them made so we’re now making these to order with a 2 week lead time. Once 50 sell, I’ll be having this mass produced by a company IN THE USA as a direct bolt in mod. We’re also making one utilizing an aftermarket clock instead of switches for non track whores and also tweaked the printer so the hazard switch sits more flush with practically no gap on the sides.

cool looks good. 2nd new one def looks way better

Id hire you to make something like this for my Speed3. Looks good!

I hope you get tons of orders and make tons of monies:tup:

One switch is for “superspot” high beam lights that I added…

The other controls my gauges, off is white and on is amber. With the gauges lit up white it can be blinding driving at night in the country.

Several mods on Evom messaged me telling me NOT to respond to people saying “I’ll take one” because I’m not a vendor so we’re kinda doing it under the table so to speak. We’re making two other designs to offer this week, once 50 sell we’ll go ahead and do the minimum fee to legitimize it and we’ll have them mass produced. You’d be surprised how many people messaged me wanting one lol.

I hope you make a mint

Whats the minimum requirement to have these made by a company? A lot of one off things require a pretty hefty starting price for them to even be made.
the fittings for my a/c relocation kit for my car is $20,000

Both me and my father have talked to several companies, both here in the US and in other countries such as Germany and England. I’m looking at $2,500 for a cast to be made, then between $2-$5 per part. Sell each one for $300, I’d be looking at $10k profit off the first 100, then $30k off every other 100 sold. Minimum from the company that I’d go with here in the states is 100.

The problem is, this vent piece right from Mitsubishi costs $200 so I would have to take time to stock up on them. I’ve bought 3 vents from individuals parting their interiors apart for $30, it would take me maybe 3-4 weeks to stock up 100 of them. It’s a gamble so we’re thinking we’ll make them to order and the customer will have to send us their current vent and will have about a 2 week lead time.

Pm’d

Why not just have the whole piece made?
