I also do what I can, when I can. Organic, humanely raised and slaughtered beef from Seven Bridges Farm, eggs from the public market (except now that theblue is eating so many of them…), and last year’s Thanksgiving turkey was raised organically on a friend’s farm. Best turkey ever, they seriously taste COMPLETELY different than a butterball. I can taste the difference in the beef, bacon, and eggs too. That doesn’t mean I’m a tree hugger. That’d be my sister, the vegetarian that can’t eat anything with a face. Except fish because she thinks they are ugly.

If I had chickens and I also had grinders, I’d probably grind a few per day extra just for fun. I mean really, the $2 loss isn’t going to hurt my pocket book any, plus I’d like to record the amount that actually survive once through. I’d put them in again and see if any survive twice through. If they did, I’d eat their heart so through digestion I acquire their strength.

If the video went viral I’m sure 100,000-250,000 or more would stop eating eggs, which I’m sure would hurt the producers pocketbook, and they’d lower production in order to save money.
Just look at how many youtube videos have 3 million+ views. If 10% stopped eating eggs thats 300,000
How many people die a year from heart attacks, and how many have stopped eating bacon because of that?

they would stop eating eggs for a week. Then wake up hung over on a sunday, see the bacon or sausage in their fridge, and realize they miss them and they really don’t care that much.

You guys are missing a huge part of the chain here. These “organic” and “free range” chickens are coming from this factory, living on farms, and producing eggs. You’re not changing a damn thing. Ask your local farmer for any old or broken chicken crates, they look like this usually:
The female chicks in this video are sent in these crates. There is a casualty rate in shipping, so they usually give you a couple extra. Once they come out of this crate, their siblings have already been slaughtered, their beaks have already been lasered and now they are on a farm. I’ve been there, done that. The cycle continues. Don’t be ignorant. I have a bridge you can buy.

so who’s the guy that decided one day “hey to get rid of all those male chicks we should just send them down a line after sorting and grind them up.” or even the guy who designed the thing.
Think they said “hey design something that can dispose of 150K chicks a day” or “we have 150K squishy on the outside, could call it boney on the inside, 4cuin things that need to be ground up”
Still love my omelets, because after all, in a sense, having that egg grabbed before its hatched prevents one more from getting ground up.
