My kitchen remodel project 56k no way

Had the day off so worked on getting the last section of cabinets replaced.

Disassembly!

And gone…

And somewhat finished.

We have the countertop being measured on Monday. Then it will take 3-4 weeks for them to make and then install it :frowning: The replacement cabinets that Lowes screwed up will be in early October. Then once the countertops are installed, I’ll do the ceremic tile and almost be done

I’m beat! But the nice part is I have about 2 weeks of break until the replacement cabinets come in to get back into the garage

I bought a set of Cherry cabinets with a premium ginger glaze finish. No repairs needed as there are only a couple of scratches on the sides that are hidden. Set of 15 cabinets with 2 huge lazy susan corners came to $2200. Same set at Home Depot would have ran about $7k.

It is a stressful experience, however. It is only open on Saturday’s and you have to get there around 6am. Once there, you take a number and its a lottery to get in early enough to get the good stuff.

Molding is $1-$8 per 8ft. board
Endcaps are $8
Toe kick is $1 per ft.
Single cabinets regardless of size or options run $85-95 each.
refrigerator cabinets are $20 each.
Pantry cabinets are $120-160

There are great deals to be had but you have to be flexible on wood and color choices.

We ordered quartz through Lowes. I think their name is Solid Surfaces.

look more into it. some stone countertops discolor over the years from the steam from your dishwasher ventilation from what i’m told. might want to take that into consideration when purchasing a new dishwasher and get one that doesn’t vent externally. i believe siemens and LG offer dishwashers that vent out the discharge pipe. i don’t know specifically if quartz is one of the materials that will discolor.

granite discolors with time, quartz almost never does.

Looks like you do pretty decent work! I think that’s more important than your taste and color in cabinets and apliances.

X…

This is called, what I did this weekend.

In addition to the Light the Night Walk, Bowling leage and some eating and drinking mixed in, I spent a TON of time getting my final cabinets in so they can finish the countertop measurements tomorrow am. I’m beat.

So I take a perfectly new cabinet
http://www.rodandpiston.com/db/upload/files/IMG_9899.JPG

And then I take a saw to it. You think they would make the cabinets fit the ovens. But that isn’t the case. 95% of cabinets need to be cut to fit the oven.

And after cutting it and reinforcing the structure of it:

Test fit the oven. Fits like a glove the first try

New gas lines ran, new power outlet, and 220 all set. And the left cabinet installed.

And installing the oven
http://www.rodandpiston.com/db/upload/files/IMG_9913.JPG

Yes I hooked it up right
http://www.rodandpiston.com/db/upload/files/IMG_9914.JPG

And set the cooktop on it to check fit. Hope the countertop comes soon!

I saw nothing wrong with your old one. But I guess, do as the wife says…

But he is getting delicious (hopefully) home-cooked meals every night. Better kitchen—> more delicious meals. Seems reasonable to me.

OK, it’s 95% done. Just some final details, woodwork, and to grout.
But it’s functional 100% and we are already enjoying it.

Upper cabinet doors are not installed yet. But they have frosted glass and you won’t see whats inside.

Now I get to go back in the garage and prepare for the Spring cruising.

Nice work looks great

Updated pictures coming. It is officially finished now
I’ve been getting some damn good dinners from my wife who loves using it.

A while back 2 people asked about buying the old cabinets. They are for sale if anyone is interested. Would be good for a rental property, etc
