My NEW 1984 BMW (Yes, another one.)

did you fuckin read the previous pages? look at the page before the one you posted on. answers all questions

hahahaha i was going to say the same thing mac

So, I found a previous owners project thread on a E24 6-Series website (bigcoupe.com), which led me to his flickr account. Which led to me searching through it. It went back to 2006 when the owner (before the guy I bought it from) picked it up. I came upon these:

Dragging ass on blown shocks with 4 people in the car at Watkins Glen:

And participating in something else invlolving laps (judging by the white flag)

I finally got around to adding up this guy’s folder of reciepts and records, though. The guy that I bought it from only had the car for 6 months or so, so all of the records/reciepts are from the person before him, where I got the pics. Well, all I can say is that the hard/necessary work (all the stuff that these cars are known for) was done by that guy. The reciepts added up to $4,280 not including the purchase price of the car. Nice.

:eek3: Yes make it like that.

I am more than aware of SpasticDwarf’s/Mike’s car. I would love to make it identical, but two problems…

  1. It’s an auto. (He says he plans on swapping it.)

  2. Try driving like this around here…

It simply is not possible in this area. That car is on coils too, no air.

DAMN, got me.

uhhh huh huh me too.

New wheels on the way. Should be here sometime in June.

They are identical to this, except the bolts around the outside will be gold, and the BBS centercap is going to be red with “BBS” written in gold.

EDIT: Here they are. The lips are now mirror polished.

Why gold you ask? It’s sort of a period-correct style wheel, as well as a period-correct color. Many older German cars had gold mesh-style wheels. I was skeptical at first, but I think it will look good. If not, they can always be changed, since the centers just unbolt, the color could be changed whenever.

not feelin the red

All of these parts are easily changed. I’m just going to run them for a while and if I don’t like something, I’ll change it.

You snap some pics of that thing cleaned up yet?

Yeah. Got a few.

should look sick with those wheels

Yeah, the BBS’s will make it look 10X better (not that it looks bad now)

Well, the seller flaked on our wheel deal a few weeks ago because he thinks he could get more for them than what we agreed on, since they are the hottest things on VWvortex… apparently. Still looking for wheels, still daily driving the car, and getting a roof-mounted bike rack shortly, as long as it is not another flaky-ass bimmerforums.com member.

As of right now, the only thing the car needs is a driver’s side front brake rotor and pads - thanks to some stupid bitch in a Lexus SUV blabbing on her cell phone cutting me off on McKnightmare Road in AM rush hour (which I have to drive on to get to my day job, unfortunately), I had to slam on the brakes to avoid rear-ending her. This car is quick to remind you that it doesn’t have ABS when a situation like this occurs. I’m sure there are some nice black strips somewhere southbound between Mick’s and the Ross Park Mall entrance. Anyway, I think the caliper is sticking, and it’s making some really sweet noises. I pulled the wheel today and nothing looks abnormal, just a rotor with a gouge in it. Pads are fine (around 50%). I won’t have time until this weekend to take it apart.

sucks about the wheels it looked good at wexford. would have liked to see some wheels on it

Update: There will be no further updates this year. The rent on my apartment at school is killing me, so I’m done with spending money on this car for the year. I will be putting new snow tires on it, and I might change the oil one more time before winter. Realistic priorites FTL. Food > mods.

Instead of starting a new thread, I’ll just put this here.

Crooked Euros Oktoberfest was October 4th, I decided to enter. Wound up winning 1st place in the BMW category. I’m not sure how that happened, considering there were some really nice BMW’s, including A few real clean E36 M3’s. I was pretty excited… did not expect to win anything.

Just a couple more things until next spring/summer left to do. I need to do some exhaust work, a rear shock, and get my new snow tires put on. Not doing anything else until next year.

It is simple…Classic BMW> tons of e36s

good shit Zach, looking clean as usual
