I decided to throw a post up about my new business to anyone that may be interested. Currently we are providing professional services in the form of PC Repair, Computer Training, and Web site development. Today, Monday is our first official business day and we are looking for clients. If you need or know of anyone who needs help with their computers or designing a website please email us or give us a call. Here is our information:
PC Repair: $50/hr, one hour minimum.
Computer Training: $20/hour
Web site development: Call for quote. This is based on the needs of the client.
By sept. of 2009 we will be adding a few venues to our business but need to save the money for it first. They include:
Hosted Operations: if you need to make a website we will provide the host/domain for you for a monthy charge ranging from $30-$50/month, depending on the size you will need.
Offsite Data Backups: very important! if you have a business or even if you use your PC for important documents you should have them backed up and not just on your own PC or Server. By backing your files up to a secure, outside source, you can be pretty much worry free of losing these files in the case of a catastrophic event to your PC or Server(s).
You should try getting into a networking group. Try a group like BNI or attending Chamber of Commerce events to help get your business out there. I’ve been a member of BNI for about a year now and it is definitely worth the investment.
Well that depends on the location… In the upstate area its extremely hard to compete with IT industry especialy with the ones that have been around for years and have an established customer relationship. This area just isnt booming with IT jobs like other states/regions are.
Yes I could go out right now and find a programming/web developmet /Help desk etc… but most of them are temporary… finding a career IT Job is a lot harder to find , but if played right doing contract jobs could deffinately take in some serious cash. Now if we got say AMD do build there damn office here than the IT industry around here would probably be a lot bigger, because that would open up the doors for bigger companys to come into the area.
and programming and web development are no more REAL IT jobs than PC repair/Maitnence
I’m not knocking on your business, so hopefully you don’t read into it like that.
good luck with it though. Post up sites that you have done as examples ( I know Jammer was looking for work to be done, but not sure if singh landed that deal or not )
I’d be shocked if AMD committed to building their new fab here after all the billions they’ve lost the last few quarters. The company I work for seems to think they’re going to spin off the chip fab portion of their business…so I wouldn’t hold your breath on them coming to town. Then again, you never know. It would be great for the Capital District area if they did decide to build that multi-billion dollar plant in Luther Forest.
